Dear Slickdeals community,

We hear you and have also heard your concerns regarding incomplete orders of toner cartridges in connection with the purchase of certain refurbished imageCLASS printers made between 6/16/20 and 6/24/20. We regret any confusion with respect to this purchase. This promotion was very popular and exceeded our expectations and as a result, we have temporarily exhausted our toner cartridge supply, and so we are working hard to complete order delivery as fast as possible. Weare currently finalizing estimated shipping dates.

Everyone who made an eligible purchase will be receiving an email in the near future with more detail, but rest assured that those who made eligible purchases will receive two sets of color toner including cyan, magenta, yellow and black (for eligible color printer purchases) and two black toner cartridges (for eligible black and white printer purchases).

We appreciate your patience and your patronage, please know that we are doing everything we can to rectify the situation as expediently as possible.

Thank you,

The Canon Team

If anybody does the research into the Pros/Cons/Features of each of the 4 options, posting it here would be swell. Its hard to tell the latter 3 apart from one another.

I bought a refurb inkjet printer several years ago. Overall, it is good. There is a bad spot on LCD and I think it may be the reason for refurb.
Thank you. So it was "like new" condition?
You would think they would fix the LCD issue if that was the Refurb problem?

What part are you reading that makes they are "starter", they're not the extra capacity. But they seem more than the 500 page starter ones you get sometimes. (I think that's what the OP means).

The non-refurb does come with starter carts https://shop.usa.canon.com/shop/e...er-printer (see "what's included page")

I'm trying to figure out if the refurb comes with starter and standard. The "what's included page" says starter, but top of page in main desription clearly(?) looks like a set of standard.
I was sort of going by the photo, and somewhat vague wording on the rest.

I do see that when I add it to the cart, the extra toner cartridges are added - This is a sweet deal.

Thanks OP!

I took a look at generic toner reviews on amazon for the MF644Cdw and I don't see any reviews complaining about locking out for non canon branded replacements.
It's the 743 that I see toners specifically mentioning with chip and without.
The 644 seems safer from a toner perspective.

wish they allow to switch CMY Cartridges with black ones ...don't print color very often so starter would suffice for long time..anyways seems good deal

I was gonna pull the trigger on the MF644Cdw but then noticed the really poor reviews (an average of 3.2 stars out of 32 reviews) on this model. The reviews noted different issues with this model. Link to reviews on the Canon website: https://shop.usa.canon.com/shop/e...er-printer. I am not sure how other models are reviewed, but it's worth to look into it before buying.
They are pretty sucky there, way higher on Amazon (4.2 with 700 reviews) and a lot of the bad ones are there if they read the specs (too big, only one sheet for bypass). Multiple MacOS Catalina issue, but seems supported now on their driver page.

I own an older Cannon MF4350. Best printer I have ever owned. Only downside is that drivers are sometimes finicky.

So i contacted canon sales and asked about the warranty and the ecare warranty and the free toner.

Here is what they said about the refurbished mf743:
Well, they have a great promotion going on right now. You get a 5 year warranty and two sets of toners. Thank you for helping me clarify all of this. Thank you for your patience.

I just placed my order for the mf743. I am Replacing my epson ink jet. I do not print a lot anymore but I like to archive my docs to pdf and I am tired of the hassle of printing on inkjet and being told the photo black is out, then the red etc. I do my heavy printing from my office where I have a Xerox 7835 beast.

I bought my grand kids and god kids the xerox phaser during xmas for $60. Good for homework for them and crafts, but it did not print duplex or scan.

Overpriced and not a good deal, even with a free toner.
What's a good price then

i have been wanting a color scanner for a while.... note sure if i NEED it though. though, the price is really good for that 644 and toner!

i have been using my phone to "scan" lately. if you put it square to a document that is on a darker surface, it will auto pop up "scan" and give you a square image that is already cut to the size of doc.
it does a pretty good job for free.?!?!

Yes that is a handy feature, but when you need to scan 20-30 pages then it is not so handy. But it is a nice tool to have handy and serves its purpose as well.
