Ryobi guy here. Basic trimmer model, old battery style, and not a quick charge charger. This is a pass to me.
I have this exact model. Run time is short, like 15 minutes or less with the included battery. It's louder than expected. The string feed system is wonky as it feeds on slow down after trigger release. This means that every time you take finger off trigger it'll feed a bit of string and the excess is cutoff on re-engagement.

It doesn't include an edger wheel so my edges are held freehand. They look awful. I'd spend more for 40v or higher with an edger wheel thing.

Can you give a recommendation for a Ryobi trimmer? Also need a blower. So many different models of each of these!

Totally agree... gets confusing on which one to actually get. I did try their bottom of the line one and actually wasn't too bad but didn't care so much for the waste of string. Also tried and returned one of the 40v ones which just felt like overkill and too heavy for my kid to be able to use it comfortably. May need to step out of the Ryobi box for a good trimmer.

I have been looking for a Trimmer and blower as well. Really wanted Ryobi since I have a bunch of their tools. I end up buying kobalt from lowes combo. With 4ah battery, brushless, for about $117 with a $20 off coupon. It's on slickdeals if you search for it. I think performance just couldn't be match by ryobi for the price.

I don't know about the 18v Brushless, but my 18v standard from a few years back is useless for me now. I bought it years back when I had a 900sqft house with about 1500sqft of yard. It was great for that. Now upgrading to a 13k sqft yard, I got to the point of dreading touching the thing. I upgraded to the new model 40v Brushless last week and it's freaking perfect for me. Rivals my old gas trimmer from many many moons ago, and I'm even running the edger attachment with no issue.

If you have a yard that's even close to 1/8th of an acre or larger - this particular trimmer is not for you.

Edit - especially with a 2ah battery included, unless you've got a 4ah or larger in your collection already

Don't do it. I paid about the same for a much better version. Do not go for these weaker versions.
