Fairly poor reviews. Hard pass despite the low price.

DO NOT BUY THIS. I got this off eBay last time to try out and it's worse than my built in mic on my EOS R. I put it right back in the box and returned to the seller on ebay.

The volume is absolutely trash. I put the mic sensitivity all the way up and it was still very low. The ONLY redeeming quality for this mic is that it's stereo. Most mics in this price range are mono, but I'd rather have decent mono sound than this mic.

save your money. it super hiss on Fuji X-T2, X-H1 and EOS M50. Built-in mic sounds better than this trash.

If you're looking for a budget microphone, the TAKSTAR SGC-598 comes up over and over as one of the best values. I bought one recently based on reviews but haven't had a chance to use it yet so I can't comment from personal experience. I paid $25 in May.

Recommending a microphone you never used before makes me soo confident to buy.

Short history of the world! laugh out loudLMAO

Marantz was a very high end American company in the early 70s and at some time Sony Superscope bought it and made it a high end Sony product line (my 4400). Products from the late 70's were phenomenal to say the least. Changed hands several times and arrived at Denon at some point in time where they produce quality receivers!
My Sony Z1 built in mic is very high end mic and feel this will not be needed even though its a great price.
Tempted to get another toy but will pass.

Anyway thanks OP and is that a wooden microphone in your avatar? Now that would be a great mic.

I've personally used it and can vouch for it being better than the built in mic on my cannon sl2. Would not recommend switching on the dB boost but it's mic is pretty good

I'm not recommending it based on my experience, I'm recommending it based on a significant amount of reading I did before purchase into what the best budget microphones are, and I was pretty transparent about that, and honestly even if I had used it my opinion wouldn't be worth much as I'm far from an expert and don't have much to compare it to. I'd encourage anybody interested in buying to do their own research, but the TAKSTAR and reviews I linked at least gives people a place to start.

Find the information I provided useful? Great. If not? No worries, but no reason to be hateful to somebody just trying to be helpful and pass on the results of what they learned when buying.
