Most people prefer the glass as it doesn't flavor the coffee, and while basic, this is known for brewing one of the best tasting cups of coffee around.
I had bought a $150 Bonavita coffee maker, their top of the line.

I still had my 8 year old $14 Mr. Coffee

I did a blind taste test with 6 friends. 5 of them said they liked the Mr. Coffee better. My non blind test I could not tell a difference.
This is indeed a good deal. I have the thermal version of this. It's essentially the poor man's moccamaster. It makes good coffee but mine started not getting as hot as it should after 2 months. (Still hot, but no gold cup) I even brew 2 cups of water first and dump out to heat it up and then brew coffee. I bought mine at target. The 1st one I returned the same day because it never lit up or blinked for the pre- brewing feature. So this is second one and too late to return. -I'm not saying it's a flaw but it's something that seems to happen to a lot of coffee makers according to reviews I read. Maybe we got duds.

-There is the newer version of this that got slightly better reviews and may be more resistant to temperature fluctuations. That is the BV1901TS Connoisseur. -which probably isn't on sale

-That said. If I didn't already have this, I would definitely take my chances on this deal hoping it would keep its high rated brewing temperatures. $56 for this is a steal. -But I would keep the receipt handy and check the return policy.

Just opened mine up today and saw that it has a 2 year warranty. Have you tried contacting Bonavita?

This version has a glass carafe that won't keep coffee warm and I don't think it has programming. Very basic. I'll stick with my oxo brew 9-cup coffee maker

I bought a Bonavita a little more than a year ago and the thing shuts off maybe 8-10 times each full pot I make. It has a nice warranty, but I've been hounding them to replace it during this stay at home time and when I do get an answer it's a bit of a run around.

Anyway, I took mine a part a bit to see if I could find out what's going on. I gotta say, for the price it seems incredibly cheaply made. I'll bet if you knew bothing, took apart a Mr. Coffee and one of these you'd have trouble telling which one was the premium coffee maker.

The one thing I do love about my Bonavita is the steel carafe, which this one does not have. That may be worth any money alone because your morning coffee will be hot into lunch. It's great. Although one of my friends had trouble with the carafe (kept getting liquid in the thermal lining causing a smell).

Pass on this junk. If mine doesn't get replaced I'm going to try a Moccamaster. Otherwise this really isn't better than any other standard drip coffee maker.

The listing says it only a has a one year warranty now. I've also heard complaints about the carafe breaking and it costing $30 to replace.

My Bonavita stopped working after four years. It was a different model though, with a cone filter not flat. I needed a new Coffeemaker in a hurry so I went to Target and bought a basic Mr. Coffee for $18 and am very happy with it! Sounds crazy but it makes very good coffee.

I haven't but I might. I just figured I'd have to pay a lot to ship it to them and if they went and said it's working fine - which it is except maybe 10 degrees- I'd be out of luck.

The only question people should have is what temperature does it heat up to when it brews? Probably not 195-205 which is what you'd ideally want if you're that into coffee.
The only question people should be asking themselves are: does this hit 195-205 degrees Fahrenheit consistently for proper brew temperature, does this brew coffee in approximately the 6 minute proper brew time range, and does the shower head provide proper and wide dispersion over the grounds? And the answer is yes to all of these. Anyone who knows about the Bonavita, understands this is a good deal.
