I guess gone are the days of $5 8x10 wood panels. So long... It was good while it lasted.

Does anyone know, without question, whether Walgreens can use an existing print to create the wood print, or if they need a digital image file?

These are not printed directly on wood. They are printed on photo paper and glued to pieces of wood. And no you can not use an existing print. You need to upload your own image file and you need to prove that you have the rights to the image. If you try to print anything even semi professional looking, they will ask you to sign paperwork claiming you have the rights to the photos you are printing.

How strictly do they enforce those rules? I've always wondered how they can tell or suspect. I mean, obviously, if you have the watermark on there yeah, but the hobbyist or enthusiast can easily make photos that look very professional looking.

Be careful of the store you order from. I ordered one a few months ago and it was glued on crooked and looked cheap. It was obviously an amateur job.

Did they remake it for you?

I didn't even bother. I was under the impression it was printed directly on wood, so I was already disappointed.
I ended up ordering a canvas print from a different location, and that turned out much better.

I've had them ask me to sign that form twice. Once with my wedding photos and I'm sure they assumed they were professionally taken just because they were wedding photos, but the other time they were just nice photos we had taken in february with a photographer. Not super artistic or anything, just family photos, and no watermarks or anything. I have no idea how they knew that they were professionally taken. I'm sure it varies by location, but my location seems to have enforced that every time I've done it with professional photos.

RT here. I got this email Sunday morning from Walgreens, and took a chance and ordered three different prints on wood (8x10 for $10).

They were ready when I showed up three hours later, and all three came out much better than I suspected that they would. At least from the store by my house, I give this deal a thumbs up.

That's happened to me as well and it was a store pick up but I hadn't checked till I got home. I took it back and was polite but firm that this was unacceptable. They reprinted it without question and it was much better.
