Tent capacity is always based on how many people you could cram in side by side like sardines. If you want to be comfortable, dividing the stated capacity by two is a good rule of thumb and will give you room for adults plus gear. So yeah, I'd probably recommend this for four, maybe five; or four adults and a couple of kids.

Of course my girlfriend and I use a two room, 12 person tent for just the two of us, so it's all relative I guess.
Are Cabela's pictures accurate? Says for 8 people, but the pictures say, 8 people would be awfully pissed off in there...

Looks like a great deal. Obviously not for backpackers. More of a fishing and hunting trip tent.

I purchased mine 10years ago. I use it about 6-8 nights every other year on different camping trips. It's held it's own through some fierce storms. As mentioned this is too heavy for a backpacking tent, however if you've got a vehicle or canoe handy to transfer it the majority of the time it's worth it's weight especially if you're doing some sort of base-camp setup. Nice to be able to put your packs+ outside the tent and know they'll stay dry.

An 8 person tent will sleep 6 at most (5 is probably realistic). You could get 8 in there but everyone would really have to like one another and be okay sleeping wedged in together or partially on top of each other.

5 people plus 5 people's gear? I guess you could do it.

When I was looking for a tent a few years ago, I considered this and the Kodiak. This tent is awesome and nice job, OP, for posting this deal! There are some great videos on YouTube showing how weather resistant this tent is. But I ended up buying a Kodiak 8 person tent because it is quick to put up and tear down, and probably almost as weather resistant. Check out YouTube reviews of both. I'd say if you regularly camp in extreme weather, go for the tent in this deal, but if not, the Kodiak is probably the best you can get that is very weather resistant and quick to set up. I really like mine and will likely hand it down to my kids -- my Kodiak should last decades.
