Are 2nd gen any better? Just curious because 1st gen were horrible, especially the motion detector and especially if you tried to use them with any other services like Smartthings. Switched to TP-Link Kasa after 1st 4 wemo devices and am up to dozen of bulbs, switches and dimmers and have had no issues with Kasa app or Smartthings integration

I think I have 1st Gen switch that I use with Google Home. It's been about a year and I would say it's pretty solid.

Granted the wemo app sucks.

All of my Second Gen WeMo switches work well. The app is spotty, but no issues with Alexa and Apple Home. I'll pick up a few of these as pricing is great. Thanks OP. Repped!

If this is the 3 way switch, I had a ton of trouble with about half of mine the last update a few months ago. Had to reset them and update multiple times before it went through.

After the update they work really nice.

Great if you need Homekit. If you don't, go with a Kasa Switch.

Good price but their latest app update which implemented accounts caused a lot of user problems. I had to setup all my devices again and even afterwards my Wemo Link devices don't show up in the app. It works because 3rd party apps can utilize the device but Wemo's own app can't.

I've got about 6 of these switches. No issues with any of them for the most part. I have had 2 of them (1 single and one 3 way) that I've had to reset because they lost connection.

The single once and the 3 way twice.

Other than that. Solid and great with HomeKit.

I also had issues with the first gen. My light would be unresponsive to both the app and physical touch. Reset button also didn't function. This happened about once a month. It was great going to bed on a late night but not being able to turn off the lights until you go to the basement to reset the circuit. Then reprogram all clocks. Ugh. I went to caseta and never had issues again.

This.

I had a ton of switches around my home & elsewhere and this cause me a huge headache.I had a ton of programming through IFFT and this completely screwed it up. This was the last straw for me... I started pulling all their switches from my wall. Their app always stunk & sometimes pushing the switches manually doesn't work (need to wait "x" amount of time), but that didn't bother too much me as I had most of them controlled through IFTT.

For the premium they charge, their service should be much better. I'm using Hue almost everywhere now and while the premium is even higher, at least the support is better.

Opposite experience here. I have 5 wemo smart switches and numerous plugs. I also have zwave switches and zigbee plugs, all working with SmartThings. My wemo switches and plugs have worked perfectly with ST for over three years.

if i could turn back time i would have skipped the wemo brand all together. an absolute buggy nightmare. every time i get a new one, i have to play around with it for days to get it to work. often i need to use a different phone other than my own for initial setup. 1/5 times i go on the app it shows all or some of the lights as not detected. another 1/10 times it shows as detected till i go to turn a light on or off, then suddenly its not detected.

hoenstly, just do a bit of searching for things like wemo issue reddit, or wemo google home, or wemo google assistant. SO MANY people out there are just like, "well, wemo is garbage, just cut your losses and sell them".

for a year now ive been trying to get them to work with google assistant. when i say turn on all lights, it turns on a random mixture of 3 out of 6 of my switches. so incredibly stupid.

https://www.reddit.com/r/WeMo/

there is a good example. go to any other subreddit for any other smart light things and you see people discussing the different setups they have, and neat ideas to use...

the one for wemo? countless posts about how bad they are. including people discussing possible litigation.

run away. do NOT give your money to this garbage company.

i actually look forward to the day i sell this house and can use them as a feature for the house. knowing full well that i can start over at my new house with a brand that doesnt suck so bad.
