This is not correct. This UPS is line-interactive which simply passes through utility power under normal circumstances. You can see in the specs that this model is line-interactive and that the voltage it will passthrough is 88 - 147V. Only when the input voltage falls outside that range will it kick over to battery and inverter.

Specs here: https://www.apc.com/shop/us/en/pr...P-BR1000MS

If you want to ensure a consistent voltage, you want a UPS that does double conversion. In short, what that means is that the input AC voltage is inverted to DC and then back to AC -- hence the term double conversion. This ensures that the voltage will always be consistent. This also means that there isn't any delay between the power going out and power kicking back in since it's always being inverted from DC.

In a line-interactive unit, once the input AC is lost, the internals have to switch over to the inverter which usually has a very short cutover time which is fine for most applications. For this particular model, the specs says that the transfer time is 8ms average.

For most consumer applications, line-interactive UPS is the most common and cheaper to produce. Double conversion is usually only found on significantly more expensive and larger UPS units because they're expected to be used for very sensitive equipment. Double conversion also has inverter losses going from AC>DC>AC so it is less efficient to operate.

Here is a video that explains and illustrates the difference between line-interactive and double conversion: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ijdB8szpmdA Some brands call double conversion topology by a different name such as on-line.

I believe there's a promo code. The 25 off gets it to 120 as you kinda mentioned.

Can I use this with my TV and AV receiver? I dont need long backup time as long as it protects my system from spikes and surges and give me enough time to walk up to my entertainment center and turn everything off (may be 5 minutes?)

Lots of 1 star reviews indicating a fire hazard... bought 2 anyway since my servers are currently without battery backup after my last no-name brand died and has no user replaceable batteries...
