While supplies are no longer as strained as they were in the beginning, some people may still make questionable purchases due to lack of research or understanding of hand sanitizers.

As such, this list should be avoided due to potential toxicity (the list was put out through the FDA). Methanol is not an acceptable substitute for ethanol, even if it's only one CH3 group away from it, and can lead to methanol poisoning if absorbed through the skin.

If you suspect you have methanol poisoning from using one of these hand sanitizers, contact your local poison control and drink ethanol. Ethanol works through competitive inhibition to reduce the action of alcohol dehydrogenase, which would otherwise be broken down into toxic metabolites.

TU. It's important to know this, and also be aware that over-using sanitizer is damaging in the long-term, by boosting resistance in microbes:

Hopefully, the majority if not all of those rushing to buy buckets of sanitizer would read this, but realistically, I am pretty sure they won't.
