I didn't see this posted, seemed like a good deal for a slightly more capable internet and light office work machine in this form-factor.

Will this run two monitors? It has both HDMI and display port...
I purchase these often for work. I can confirm you can run two monitors without any issues. Check your monitor connections though as you will probably need to buy an DisplayPort to HDMI cable to connect 2 HDMI monitors. This cable is only ~$10 on Amazon. I wouldn't buy this unless you put a solid state drive "SSD" into it. In a year it will feel super slow. Invest another $80 in a Samsung Evo SSD and this is a 5-10yr home use PC easy.

Don't even think about gaming with this integrated GPU.
You can still play games from the Windows XP era and NES, SNES emulator just fine though, if that's what you mean by gaming.
how about like WoW? doesnt have to be ultra settings or anything. i travel a lot for work and usually have my laptop but this might be nice to hook up to the tv in the hotel

No WoW either, it might run but my guess is 15-25 fps at lowest settings. That's not good experience imo.

These 3040Ms are really compact and great as a PLEX media Server or a utility box. I also got one for my son for school. It runs Roblox with no issues and pretty speedy.

If you keep an eye on Dell Refurbished deals, you can get 35-45% coupons off the $300 plus configurations and it usually brings it down to around $200 after tax. The SSD options sell quick though and you can customize your search for cosmetic grade options (A or B) which narrows the search to exactly what you want.

There's also regularly clearance options for around $169 which have an i3, 4GB, and 500GB HDD. Easy to upgrade to an SSD if you have an extra one that's not being used.

I've had no problem buying computers like this on eBay for $100-120 the last few months. Mostly HP and Lenovo machines, but they're all similar micro desktop i5-6500t models. Some with SSDs. I'd say if you bide your time you can get a couple a week at that price. Got a couple much newer 3060s for about the same price, too.

I just bought a 3040M from Dell Refurbished last week. It's supposedly loaded with Windows 10, according to the product page shown on the website. When I received the machine, no OS was installed, and there was no product key sticker on the case. I've tried to install Windows 10 via both Microsoft Installation Media and Dell's OS Recovery Tool, and Windows still won't activate.

With limited support on these refurbished machines, there is a risk of not being able to activate Windows after you change to SSD.

This or a used Lenovo tiny from eBay? I would add my own SSD to either
We've had more than a few Lenovo Tiny form factor units fail over the years (M72, M73, M92).
I'd rather buy the Dell.

I missed it earlier but this is a T series processor, slower more power efficient. Not the ideal CPU for Blue Iris. I would not recommend this system for BI.

I found some Deskpro 400 G3s locally with a regular I5-6500 but no hard drive, just DVD & 8GB (2x4GB) & Nvida NVS 310 graphics card for $130. Will test this later when my SATA splitter cable arrives because it only has 1xSATA power and I like an SSD for OS + BI and then a red/purple drive for more storage.

These seem to be a decent deal a couple of years back. Now with new AMD processors, any intel core gen 1-8 are obsolete.
Build yourself an AMD r3-3300x and you get modern CPU, less heat with slightly better performance than even a core i7-7700k

That said, if you still want to buy pre-built. From 3rd and 4th gen to 6th gen will be around 10-15% performance increase in CPU max. For GPU, you get like 50-100% increase.
Still, I would go with $200 3rd or 4th gen over this 6th gen at $280 unless you need GPU power somewhat
What do you mean obsolete? Can you get a similarly performing pc using AMD r3-3300x for $270? There are tons of different use cases, with a tiny physical size of this micro desktop, the physical size is the main selling point isn't it?
