Never heard of Zavvi? Reputable merchant?

Also, this line seems ridiculously expensive compared to the traditional price per bricks on other series. I also never see them go on sale at the "normal" 20% off deals.

I've ordered from Zavvi before and got my items quickly with no issues. These space sets have a lot of special pieces, such as the window on rocket.

Anyone experiencing DHL intercepting the package in UK and asking for receiver's passport ID picture? my shipment from zavvi is on hold at the moment. I have never seen a shipping company asking for my photo ID. This is really odd

I have not ordered from Zavvi, but reviews are always positive in these sort of threads.

This set was heavily marked down over the last 30-60 days at Walmart. I was able to score one for $35. It now shows out of stock for all stores in my area, even at full MSRP.

I just received my Chiron, pretty quickly (4 days) but I also placed another order and still waiting for the item to ship, I might be a case of out stock.

I literally got an email from DHL saying they will intercept the package due to compliance issue. I dont think this is out of stock issue because they already charged me 300$ for the lego. Now it's stuck and zavvi customer service isn't doing anything for past 48 hours

I'm not complaining, but why are the Lego deals always from Zavvi?

I wonder why too. And this site always mark up the MSRP, to make their discount seems greater?!

Zavvi is an offshoot from a 2007 management buyout deal of Virgin Megastores in the UK and Republic. Zavvi initially appeared as a retailer in the spaces previously occupied by Virgin. Eventually they closed all the retail locations and evolved into an online-only seller. Much like what Circuit City did after they shuttered all the retail stores, before they eventually faded into anonymity.

Just got two (2) different shipments of Legos from Zavvi. Both were inside boxes not bags and came in great shape: no damage at all.

Who cares if they boost the "RRP" price to to make for a greater discount? The consumer has access to the pricing from other outlets and can make the decision for themselves if the final price is better than they can get from Lego/Amazon/WalMart/Etc. For me it was a no-brainer to purchase a kit that wasn't even "on sale" from Zavvi because it was WAY cheaper than the alternatives here in the US... got the 42108 Mobile Crane delivered for $105 with tax which is MSRP here if the kit is in stock at US retailers, which it isn't. Wouldn't have bought it for myself at that price but it was for my son's birthday and buying at that price (higher than some previous SD's) was the best deal at the time (a few weeks back), and still is for that matter. It's $180-ish at Amazon and sold out at all the usual retailers, Lego.com showed it as something like "ships in two months".

Wish I could say the same. I have ordered from them 3 times and here's the breakdown:

1- Product was badly packaged but thankfully the product box was undamaged and the seals unbroken. Dodged a bullet there.

2- Packaging was even worse, one end of the product box was squished and bowed out. But this was a gift for a kid so the condition of the box was inconsequential, good enough for an 11 y/o. He didn't even notice that the box was deformed and was just happy AF to have a big-ass Technic kit.

3- Product arrived in a Lego outer box and was perfect.
