Previous deal showed expired but item is in stock for shipping at the time of this posting. My left d pad is clicking on my standard controller and it's the third one I've replaced in about 15 months. Blame it on Rocket League. I've seen good and bad on this but figured with Costco returns it's worth a shot. Price $159.99 and free shipping. May be able to PM to Best Buy, target etc.

Did they fix the stick drift, easily broken bumpers, and padded grip peeling. I had all of these problems within 1 year of owning gen 1 of the elite controller. Suffice to say it was deflating since i genuinely loved it.
stick drift is a problem on console controllers, period. they'll never eliminate it, has to do with how the contacts wear over time and how you treat the sticks. also bumpers are delicate

I'll agree the Gen 1 grip peeling was a bad design flaw. I bought a $5 silicone cover from Amazon and never had any trouble again across 2 gen1 controllers.

If you're going to spend $150+ on a controller, get a warranty. I don't have Costco but their replacement policy is always spoken highly of around here. Best Buy's is 2-year, $40 no-questions-asked 2 replacements but I think you have to buy through BB.

Microsoft's controller warranty is $20 for 3 years and I confirmed with a rep that stick drift and/or reduced battery life are grounds for replacement. You can add a MS warranty to a retail purchased controller within I think 45 days of purchase with proof. I didn't dig into this deep bc I just bought mine straight from MS to keep it easy.

imo a $20 warranty if any of your concerns happen is worth it, on a device like this. I will 100% be getting my controller replaced before the warranty expires so I think of it kind of like pre-purchasing a replacement for $20

I'm not saying you are incorrect but I have owned almost all consoles and have never had stick drift from a Playstation controller. Not once.

Same with a Xbox 360 controller.

In fact, I have had stick drift on 3 total, standard Xbox One (Artic White), The Elite v1, and the Elite v2.
The Elite v1 drift is very mild and playable. The other two, were unplayable.
Sure, wear and tear will happen but I think they have an easy to diagnose design flaw, they just don't care or chose to ignore it.
I'm sure for their $180 controller with a history of drift issues, changing the 5 cent analoge module to something more sturdy would be in order.

Now that you mention it the 360 is the only controller I can remember that never got any drift heh that thing was solid

but yea design flaw or not most people are pretty rough on analog sticks, myself included. my point primarily was to just plan for it so get the warranty for $20 instead of a whole new controller since MS themselves cover it

cheers
