40v is dead. 60v is where it's at these days.

Dewalt has a lackluster lawn equipment selection compared to Makita & Stihl, though.

Dewalt 60v trimmer is nice. Strapped a non-OSHA friendly looking brush cutter to it. We'll see how long the motor takes to burn out 😂.

Need a deal on lawn equipment combo. String trimmer and leaf blower. Anyone know how good the 20v DeWalt perform? Is a step up to 40v worth it?

40v iirc is discontinued. Pretty much just 20v and 60v now. The flexvolt line as a whole is pretty great

This is a marketing stunt for Home Depot. We can't tell which specific item is a good deal based on number of thumbs. It's click bait.

The 20V garden line is pretty good for most tasks. Of course it's better if you already have a bunch of DeWalt 20V so you'd have batteries and chargers (sometimes buying a "kit" it still good because you get a new large battery to add to your collection.) Their small chain saw is good also, for most home garden tasks (shrubs, small-medium trees).

They are not going to be as heavy-duty for big jobs. For example using a string-trimmer to clear a field of heavy weeds is not a job for the smaller homeowner units. In an electric I would recommend an eGo or Greenworks 80V. Same with a chainsaw if you have larger trees and will do a lot of wood cutting. However the Milwaukee M18 line has some pretty amazing tools as well. Remember it's not the volts but how you use them! An M18 with a 9 or 12AH battery is a pretty solid machine. I have their big M18 FUEL chainsaw which I bought for doing some larger tree work, and I'd put that up against any noisy smelly 2-stroke Stihl or Husqvarna gas saw in the <$500 range.

[EDIT] added, since you asked about blowers, I have both the DeWalt 20V blower, which is actually pretty good. It's far better than the low-end (black&decker and small Ryobi units) which are basically toys. However the DeWalt 20V blower can't compare to the Greenworks 80V blower. That things is just amazing. So it really depends on your tasks. For most routine lawn maintenance and sweeping, the DeWalt is fine. But if you have to blow piles wet soggy leaves and cuttings, you'll need more power.

I have the 40V Ryobi yard combo including 22" hedger, Expand-It attachment with trimmer/tiller, self propelled mower, and jet fan turbo fan and am quite pleased with the set. I purchased all of the tools gently used via good deals on Craigslist, 5mile or OfferUp and have only about $400 invested total, including a 5aH and 4aH battery.

As for the post in question, thank you OP for your extensive effort in arranging this list together. I just purchased the non brushless sawzall, drill, light, and impact driver set during Ryobi Days sale over a month ago and wish I would have waited. Now i am debating if I should just sell the set and get DeWalt or Milwaukee.

Damn, nothing here to replace or supplement the Ridgid 5-piece Gen5x kit I picked up earlier this month. Would have bit on the router-sander kit, but they're tools only. I won't buy batteries on their own because not sure they're covered by the LSA.

Thanks OP for the post, well done.

The Dewalt trimmer is excellent. Ive had it over a year and am very happy. I also have the blowers (large and small), they both fill their niche nicely, but forget wet leaves. Of course, my gas Poulan didn't do great on that, either.
Overall, the Dewalt have done very well with my 1/3 acre lawn.

Looking for drill and impact set. What's the difference between the Ryobi $149 set on this list vs the $99 set?

Is the "Big" one 20V or 60V?

Looks like they have 5 blowers.
1 "shop" 20V
2 more 20V
2 more 60V

Wet leaves need mph more than cfm to pick them up.

jig saw or impact wrench might be a good option then. Also if the multi tool is available with battery its a game changer.

Wife said I can get the 15amp Dewalt compound sliding miter saw when it's $100.

It seems we'll be divorcing soon.

She will likely get the house...
... but it'll be painted Mikado Yellow and Matte Black before she can take it!!!

I meant to say 60v. I didn't realize those flexvolt batteries can be used on both 20v and 60v tools, that's pretty awesome.
