I've swam in these a lot over the last six months. After a few months the first pair went out in the left ear bud. I had paid for the best buy warranty so I had them exchange them and bought another warranty on the second pair. They havent given up yet after probably 100 miles in the pool. They also go in the steam room/sauna with me.

For the convenience of swimming with music I'll continue to buy the 10 dollar warranty and have best buy replace them as long as they're in stock. Swimming with ear buds in is awesome. If I didnt have the warranty I'd probably buy a few of these as back ups.
Worth mentioning. You arent going to swim with BT ear buds without the built in MP3 player. BT has virtually no range under water.
I hear you but it's not really that bad. You probably use the same silverware that hundreds of people used before you at restaurants. Disinfect the earbuds and try not to think about it.

You know they do a little bit more than just blowing on it and sticking it back in the box right?

Generally, I agree. Since these are waterproof though I can wash them better than most earbuds (soap and warm water and perhaps even a mild disinfectant).

These blue SPRINT ones are a buck cheaper but don't have built in mp3 storage (not an issue for most) they are a bit smaller:

If you are looking for headphones that work while you are swimming this are not the ones you want. They will pause all the time while underwater and you will not be able to even hear while swimming. They suck for what they are supposed to be built for. Really frustrating and would not recommend them if you are looking to use them while swimming or even exercising. Don't even get me started on just trying to get them to work right to start with
