I was about to order, but the posts online generally say that the Duplicator 7/Duplicator 7 plus are starting to get dated, had a fair number of issues to begin with and not really the best deal now when you consider how much extra time/effort will need to be put in to use them.

Having went with the cheaper 3d printer for my FDM one I didn't find the time/money trade off to be worth it and much of the savings were eaten up by addons etc. that I ended up buying that in the end cost more than a printer with the same features new.

There also are a lot of complaints about the resin not being very good that comes with it and purchasing another resin would eat most of the savings vs. the better Elegoo resin printers.

Also Elegoo is coming out with a few new models that aren't widely available (likely due to covid), but once they are they will be significant upgrades. Also the creality ld-002r-lcd-resin-3d-printer seems to be inbetween the Elegoo current model and the new upgraded model they are coming out with if you want many of the upgrades though with a less known/used model (Creality are well understood for FDM, but their resin printers haven't been very popular thus far).

Overall if you want it now I would spend the extra ~$60 to get an Elegoo or the creality one. If you can wait a bit longer the Elegoo pro seems like it would be good.
I guess the guy meant Egloo Mars, which is easily available for purchase at a price below $250. When pro comes out, it may become even cheaper.
Elegoo Mars now on sale for $205!!! Get that instead! Much better reviewed printer and way better support and larger community. I have one that's printed flawlessly for almost a year now.

The Elegoo is $400. This is $149. A lot more than an extra $60, unless I am missing something.

I'm glad to see more notices about 3D printers as my model price select was returned broken to me when loan to a friend. I've been looking at the Sovol SV01 to get something with a large print volume for a reasonable price. I don't want to fark with resin stuff yet because of all of the extra space and things I need to process it. ain't nobody got an extra room to put those fumes in, ain't nobody got extra time to wash everything and then cure it on top of that. And then process the waste and yeah yeah yeah. So for now until they figure out a much better system that's kind of one step, maybe two, I'm going to stick with the filament printers but I'll take any advice on what ones I should look at. I have been looking at the SVO1 and maybe a CR10 but I just don't know. I don't want to spend a ton of money but I need to print some larger things. Hopefully you guys can help me out.

Go with this if you must, but I would say your money is better spent on a Phrozen Sonic Mini or Elegoo Mars if you are looking at value resin printers. Those printers are more reliable and have a community behind them.

You can get the Mars on amazon for $240. Worth it over this IMO

I would not go near any of these. They are a mockery of the 3d printing process and badly engineered. I have the og( Wanhao D7) and these are rebrands. Nothing but a pain in the rear to work with. Get yourself a small FDM like a CR-10Mini and optimise that instead of breaking your head on this by POS!

I just picked up a cr10 pro and it is completely worth the money over the cheaper alternatives. I needed something to print larger Lithophanes and tried a cheaper model printer and after 2 separate machines and several replaced parts I still couldn't get a decent print. The cr10 is printing beautifully right out of the box

I'm in the market for a resin 3D printer and have been reading up on them.

Reading the posts in this thread and between the lines with the Monoprice pricing signaling possible exit from 3D Printing, I'm going to pass. Quality, out of the box usability and time are worth something to me. I would rather spend a little more and not be frustrated enough to just start kicking this around my yard in anger.

Too bad, too. I don't think anyone dislikes Monoprice and their high quality items for the cost, meaning they have a good brand and credibility. They were positioned to take a dominant role in the 3D Printing market and whiffed it.

I hear you, I've looked at Resin but my evil lab is a unused bedroom and I doubt my wife would be too happy with all the extra mess they create and all the other accoutrements they require. I bought a Ender 3 Pro and could not be happier. The prints aren't as detailed as resin can be but also requires little to no post processing or cleaning of the equipment.

As someone who bought one of Monoprice's more expensive 3D printers, let me take the time to warn people away from jumping on this.

Monoprice does not make their own printers, they rebadge printers from a company called Malyan (and possibly others). And the quality control on the printers they sell is god-awful. The printer that I received, which they were selling for $400, I have never actually been able to use. When I first tried to print, I made sure everything was set up properly, I leveled the bed, preheat everything, started the print. Nothing. I did that 3 or 4 times, rechecking everything. Nothing. Finally, I looked at the extruder as it was starting to print, only to find out that the extruder was turning backwards and pulling the filament out of the nozzle. And normally, that would be something you can fix in the configuration settings, but I could not change the config settings because Monoprice absolutely refuses to release their firmware, which they are required to do because they are using an open source Marlin firmware. I emailed back and forth with them about this, but eventually they stopped responding. Finally, I had to take out the extruder stepper and figure out which wires to swap to get it turning the right way.

But the real issue why I have never been able to use the printer is because their software does not properly store the leveling data. I would use the automatic leveling and then adjust with global offset, but each time a print began, the nozzle would start well off the bed. And since I had no access to the config file, I had no way to fix the issue. I tried with Pronterface to change settings, but the changes simply would not be saved.

The printer that I paid so much money for is sitting unused for over a year now. I will never buy a Monoprice 3D printer again.
