My Westinghouse died as well as my brother's within 6 months after mine. Luckily we both had squaretrade and they covered and refunded us, I think I took the amazon option for the extra 5 or 10 percent at the time. I'm not saying Westinghouse is bad but I would get additional protection just in case.
Was your brother using it in the same house as you? Maybe it was an electrical problem.

Would I need an AMD video card to take advantage of adaptive sync on this monitor? I know the lines have blurred on that in the past year or so IIRC.

Newer Nvidia cards (10/16/20-series) support FreeSync too.

Got the same AOC monitor and I can vouch for their quality.
Can you link the AOC? Thanks

Isn't this the same panel as the Vio-tek GN34C and the Monoprice MP 35inch ?

Both VA at 100hz and have been near this price several times before.

yeah thats what i will do, still have the 27" korean monitor overclocked to 100hz. these damn prices are just so tempting at times. but probably best is to use the current monitor for another 2-3 years till the end of life for the gtx 1080ti to push games at 100hz and then upgrade the entire system. by that time the LG monitors should drop in prices too with new gpu able to push 144hz at 3440x1440p. trying to get a 3440x1440p push 144hz at high/max setting requires at least a 2080ti. im not even if that the rtx 2080ti can do that now.
I just couldn't get lucky with my shimian. It won't go pasty 65hz.

You might want to reread that article. This monitor has better resolution than a 2k monitor. If you are using the same format to measure the resolution, this would be a 3.5k monitor.
Yes, exactly. That's what I said. And yet, Newegg calls it "2K".

Westinghouse is a horrible brand. I post it every time one of their products is posted. I've had 2 of their TV's in the past, and they didn't last more than 18 months before failing in various ways. This is clearly a brand that engineers to a price and doesn't care at all about quality longevity. Please don't buy this monitor, and please don't support this type of product.
My folks have 720p westie that's lasted over 10yrs and is still kicking strong. Seems like you got the bad RNG.

ah man this is such a good price for a 3440x1440p monitor. i am looking at the LG brand and it cost more than double this. lg has IPS and 144hz. the LG 2560x1080 version is even more expensive than this. i just dont know how the VA and 100hz is compare to the IPS and 144hz.
80% of the specs for 50% of the price. up to you.

Good spec, questionable brand and definitely not a fan of no return policy. Last couple experiences with Westinghouse were poor. Solid pass.

It's crazy how these things have held price. During the bitcoin summer of 2017 I found a 34" UWS LG 3440x1440 for $450.00... 3 years later. Same specs but granted a little nicer models are out for same price

I don't get why people are so against VA panels. Good luck finding an IPS panel with these specs..going to be like triple the price.

This monitor is in a bit of a weird place: it lacks the specs to be a true gaming monitor and yet it also lacks the specs to be a good office monitor (no picture by picture mode). I also could not find the curvature listed in the specs?

I mean it might work well for many for what it is. Price is very good.
