Check the roller for any buildup
I replaced both filters - the circular one on the ball, and the cone shaped one inside the bin. I also completely cleaned the roller area, cut out all the hair that built up over time, and it still has a burning smell. It might be coincidental, but the air coming out of the ball does feel warmer than it used to. It's also possible that it's the same temp as before and I just never bothered to feel it because there wasn't an issue before lol

Living with two long haired humans, I need a vacuum that doesn't have 'hair wrapping around the cleaner' issues.. anyone know of one?

Check the roller belt. Could be sitting wrong and rubbing. Motors just burn out, brushes fail after time. I still have my Dyson Animal after several years. Had to replace the power switch, both filters and the roller during that time.

If the belt has worn out, it will start slipping and smell a bit like burning rubber. This is true for all vacuums that use a belt driven roller.

The Dyson do suffer from this if you engage the roller ( I disable it for linoleum as to prevent scratching ).

Long hair humans are right. I have one in the house with 3' red hair, very noticeable when the roller does get filled.

The roller itself is easy to get to - two latches and it pops out. At that point I attack the hair with scissors.

Bought a Dyson DC18 refub via Woot back in '08 (paid $249). Best vac I've ever owned. It's survived the wrath of my German Shepherd all of these years and is finally showing its age. Time for an update, and at this price its a no-brainer. Thanks OP, rep'd.

Debating between this and Roborock S4. I currently have Dyson V10 and older Roomba that needs to be upgraded. We don't have any pets so this might be an overkill, no?

I have been searching for the last 2 months since Dyson itself, their Rakuten store and their eBay store have all been dropping historic discounts on Dyson products in the past few months. I've had my eye on the Multi-Floor origin, keeping track of the Dyson models has been really confusing. The reason is they recently went through a complete model number refresh and change up.

I finally just rounded out all the research, the ones that were clearance out of Wal-Mart for $79/$99 were the light(entry) models. The multi floor 1 has shown to be around $200 usually and I saw this model the Multi-Floor Origin from Rakuten for $191 after the discount code but they have been OOS(just emailed them yesterday and they responded with NO ETA for restock). Much better than what I saw in Target for $349.99, but this is better by $2!! I'll take it!!! https://static.slickdealscdn.com/ima...es/biggrin.gif

Please correct me if I'm wrong but my research for the upright models I believe goes lightball<Multifloor 1<Multifloor2<MultifloorOrigin<Animal2<Animal2Total<BBAnimalAlrgy

This model of OP's deal has 275AW of suction power compared to the more expensive Multi Floor 2 which only has 245AW of suction power(10%+). The Multi Floor Origin is a bit heavier, has a larger capacity, 5 ft longer cord and though it's cheaper than the Multi-Floor 2 on Dyson's own website for $100 less I think its the better model. Let me know what you think!!

TL;DR This is a great deal and I finally bought the exact model I've been looking for!

*All my data is gathered from Dyson's own marketing information and websites.
Thank you! This is the kind of thing I always do before buying something like this, but I'm prepping for a house move on 8/1 and have no time.

Major thanks for doing (and sharing!) all the work on this for me! Smilie))

This dyson (model: 208234-01) has 245 Air Watt suction power with 30 ft cord. On the other hand, Dyson's website [dyson.com] has the model (couldn't find the number) with 270 AW max suction power and 35 ft cord. Don't think there is much difference but useful to know before buying (or not).
