I picked up the regular version of P5 a while back for like $10 but haven't played it yet. Is it worth it to play Royal over the original?

I've beaten the regular game and Royal. Both were amazing. Royal is worth getting even if you've beaten the original version. The small changes they made, plus the extra storyline and semester are worth it.

Royal is worth getting, but the regular version is just as a fun. You're safe either way.

Man I kinda want the whole steel book thing but I really prefer my games digital. I haven't bought a physical copy of a game for at least 4-5 years now.

I tried using my $5 Pro coupon yesterday, in-store, and was told it can't be used for anything on sale, only regular priced items.
I've bought a couple of used games so far with my monthly $5. I wonder if they changed it recently or you just went to a garbage store.

Me too, but as I understand, this game got expanded with additional story lines and characters. you would be missing out if you just played the base version. I'm a
few hours in and wish I had the expanded version. Not sure I would play through again since I have a decent backlog going. Royal = I want it all !!!

Lmao and like the original p5 this will drop to $10 in like 2 months and Atlus will release Persona 5 Diamond King at msrp with an extra cut scene 🤣
The original steelcase version's price actually held pretty steady for a while, even going above MSRP for a few months. It wasn't until 2 yrs out or more that it started getting significant discounts.

This is the steelcase version, which I love collecting. At this price it's a no-brainer.
Played both and Royal makes the game so much better. The whole is definitely more than the sum of it's parts in this one.

Also there won't be any other versions after this. Persona games always have an original release, and then a 'deluxe' edition a couple years later (Persona 3 FES, Persona 4 Ultimate, Persona 5 Royal, etc.)

This game is like crack. Never heard of Persona series before and didn't initially get into the heavy dialog and combat. But after a few hours I'm hooked. Great soundtrack too.

I bought the Royal version (digitally) a few weeks back despite being much more expensive than the non Royal version. I have limited gaming time, and didn't want to miss out on a better experience if it meant some money. Watched a review on this vs regular, and they say regular was made for PS3 in mind too, while this is entirely for the P4, so the animations are better, there's more story, and better loot, etc. But YMMV.

By the way, I went digital because keeping all the discs around is a hassle for me and I hate switching disks when I switch games. Also, hoping that all the digital library transfers seamlessly into PlayStation 5 when it comes out.
