I was just looking up some of the changes between the base version and the Royal (https://www.vg247.com/2020/03/31/...mparison/). Seems like they made a lot of quality-of-life updates, like gun ammo restocking between fights and part time jobs messaging you when it's particularly time-efficient to come in. Not sure how to feel about them adding more opportunities to improve relationships with confidants at 0 time cost, but it wasn't that hard to max confidants in the first place (almost got it on a blind run, just one day off!).

They also added a bunch more confidants and things to do (billiards, darts, etc.) so it all kind of evens out. The QoL changes seem minor, but make the game flow much better IMO. I remember some of the dungeons and Mementos being a slog in the original, but it's much more fun in Royal with the new music and Jose. Even the new characters are introduced pretty much right away and feel very integral to the story.

That's really cool that the new characters feel like part of the story. I always felt like the Persona 5 story was kind of like a matryoshka doll with arcs that are smaller versions of the larger arc, so it's reassuring that the new characters are cohesive additions. I remember Marie in Persona 4 Golden feeling kinda tacked-on at times.

4 the golden is legendary gaming. This is is very similar but much better IMO. The non random dungeons are amazing.
