Buy an obi 200 voip adapter for $40 and use any phone you want including cordless with google voice for free.
Or the obi202 for $50 and have two lines. I went this route after my obi1xx was no longer supported.

Do they still make these? I only see gray market resellers right now. (ie ebay)

After reading reviews on Amazon I will keep away
I believe that all the negative reviews are from July 2019 which was due to not having version 6.2.3 which was released July 2019.

There do not seem to be any unfavorable reviews after this time.

I'm using an obihai adapter connected to a red 1967 Western Electric rotary phone. It's fun to ask people to use it and they are shocked that it works.

That works but... having had both the 200, 202 and an older similar 1032 phone, I will say there's is a huge different in quality between this digital phone and using a 200 connected to any standard phone. The 1032 calls are Crystal clear and loud while my older phone is weaker and often distorted.

That's awesome. My brother had a red rotary phone when we were in college that we called the Batphone, and that thing is still in my garage. I ought to get it out and connect it to my Obihai.

Assuming it has PC Pass-Thru so you can have one connection from your Switch to your phone on your desk, and then a connection from your phone to your computer.

It sucks to limit your computer to 100mb/s because you have the phone holding you back. This is very useful in enterprise where you can reduce the number of data drops by half, and for home it would help keep things neat as you have less long cable runs.

What is the difference between using this with Google Voice and using a nice wired headset hooked up to my aux port on my laptop?

Yes. They have standard POTS connections. GV is just delivering a dial tone. Any phone that connects to a dial tone can work. They also have their network connection.
