So this is essentially a phone that works off of Google Voice like the adapter, but costs double? Why would you buy this?
You got it!

Is it anveo?
Obi makes it really easy to use with Anveo and if you do it that way you get alerts when your device is offline. You can use pretty much any provider you want though if you want to save a few cents.

Obi200 is the way to go for me. Any traditional phone works. Whole house with many phones connected to a single Obi200. No fees or charges whatsoever.

Is there any monthly fee (like local govt fees etc.) to use GV with your cordless phone using Obi?
No GV is totally free. If you get an outside company to give you 911 capability then there is a charge for that. GV is a free service. GV does not support 911 capability natively.

Who uses these these days? I had an Obihai device maybe ten years ago but I moved to cellular entirely and haven't gone back since.

Who wants to drag a cell phone with you everywhere you go and keep charging the battery when you're at home? I hate cellphone voice quality and signal issues anyway.

If you already have a n OBi200, you dont have to use an IP phone. I think you can use regular home phone. Am I correct?
That is correct.

I use both. It can be cheaper to set up incoming lines on sip.

I'm using an obihai adapter connected to a red 1967 Western Electric rotary phone. It's fun to ask people to use it and they are shocked that it works.
I have one a setup like this - a Rockford style answering machine and an old generic green bell phone. One of these days I'll hook the old hotel crank phone in the garage up.

I use my Obi 200 with a WiFi connector to handle faxing, and it is shockingly excellent for that. (Voice quality above and beyond OOMA who decided to suddenly and fraudulently bork my "lifetime" account). Total outlay for the current setup was about $65.

Looks great if I didn't already have OBi1022. This one looks better because it has built in wifi, gigabit ethernet pass through, and aux telephone out to plug in a regular land line phone. Some people don't even have home phones anymore, or don't want one that rings in every room, plus this has way less cords than adapter/phone setup.
