Thinking about going this route. I've been eyeing the x1600h for 450$, but the 7850 seems like a better deal.
I know we don't have time machine but Some how I can't digest 450 for x1600 when X3400 been under 500 multiple times.

Yeah, same. I don't think I can wait much longer though and who knows how long this virus is going to disrupt manufacturing.

I have Sony STR-DH790 (7.2ch) on order since Memorial Day (still waiting for stock at ABT.com) for less than $280 after cashback and promo codes. Now this shows up. Only 5.1 but has network capabilities... Not sure what to do....
I've been eyeing that Sony, it hit $200 in November and it was so low I thought it was the 590 (also on sale around that price) and I accidentally ignored it.

I am still using RX-V995 (bought in 1998 for my first 5.1 set up at the time) to drive a pair of B&W in my home office. Rock solid, plenty of power.

Have you considered buying used or maybe even open box.
If all you need is 5 channels and those features, you can easily find a slightly older model that will give all that for much cheaper.
I'm all about those Amazon Warehouse deals, and it's great for AV equipment

Anyone else have issues with the iOS app? I have an older model RX-V675 (no wifi but direct network connection). The iOS app fails to connect more then 50% of the time.

I am still finishing up my setup, so the receiver will have to wait. Makes no sense buying receiver now and using later/hence eyeing rx-denon 3700 or marantz sr6014. I can't digest the look of the announced yamaha rx-a8, that coming from a devoted yamaha user. Probably will go with rx-a3080 depending on what is available at that time. I dont think sr6011 marantz will ever show up again. Its 3 generations old and I have been watching accessories4less for quite sometime. If it does, that would be sweet Smilie
About the subs, I do have 2 DIY 18's (VBSS) Wave 7.1.4 was just a main stream lingo, but I am using just one sub out for both the subs so, still correct. Probably will DIY a mini marty or two depending on the room response once the setup is complete. They are all going behind the AT screen, doesnt need to be beautiful.

Back to the thread. Again, this is not a good deal unless one is looking for a yamaha receiver in particular and need a 5.1 right now. Check out best buy open box, much better 5.1 receiver deals there.
I bet those subs are glorious, will be even better once you're at 7.1.4. I remember when i upgraded from 5.1 2 to 7.2.4. Those extra 2 height channels unlocks some incredible panning effects that 2 height channels can't produce. Make you wanna watch your entire movie collection again

329 for a 5.1 is expensive
A basic 5.1 can be found for closer to $220-$250 with patience and waiting for sales but this model has network functionality as well. All things considered, this is a good price for a good mid-range budget-ish setup.

Totally agree and the reason I bought this. I'm all for getting a bargain but how long can you really wait? I've been looking for about three months and this fits my needs at a nice price. Not going to procrastinate to save another $50-$75.

Also 5.1 is fine for me and for most folks. A huge improvement over TV speakers and soundbars. You can spend thousands on this stuff. Doubt most folks have that type of disposable income.

I heard that Deal parade usually has great condition yamaha TSR 7850 for like 350 with a year warranty on ebay. It's usually 270 ish but depending on taking the refurb route or new 485, that could have been a better option for you
