Well if you could get the SVS Pinnacles for $800-$900 I would go that route, but if they are going to cost twice the price of the 580s($600->$1200), I would go with the 580s. Another factor to consider is the fact that these 580 deals will likely come again, as they have in the past. While the Pinnacle deal for you might not come around again. And if you can get the Pinnacles that cheap I would buy them for sure because even if you don't like them, you can probably resell them for the same amount.

Last thing I would consider, and it may not matter to you, is the appearance. I personally believe this JBL Studio line is ugly as all hell. Ironically I own the sub(550p) but its on the ground in a corner of my studio so no one really sees it.

As far as the sound goes, I haven't heard either. I've only heard the Prime bookshelves and Ultra Bookshelves(own). Its probably going to be difficult to find anyone whose heard BOTH the tower speakers you're considering here. Good luck! Both seem like good choices and deals.
Appreciate the feedback. bought a 77" OLED during the best buy open box deals and my soundbar is just pathetic. Although Im living in shared house so don't really even crank that. I just have the itch and don't know how much longer I can hold it off before dropping a decent amount of money on a complete 5.1 system.

I am leaning towards the SVS Pinnacle not only for them being highly reviewed, but I also think they look better than the JBL.

Decisions decisions. I am also interested in KEF R500 speakers ($1300/pair) and wondering I should just bite the bullet and get much higher end now versus buying something lower/mid tier and upgrading in the future. I am buy once cry once type of person, just trying to decide how much I want to cry. LMAO

Re: "I should just bite the bullet and get much higher end now versus buying something lower/mid tier and upgrading in the future"... If you know what type of sound you like, buy the best L/R you can afford. Then later add the Sub, then Center, and finally surroundings.

JBL is an engineering company while SVS is a sales and marketing company.

I see JBL 500 series on sale, I upvote. In my dedicated theater I started with AJ, Klipsch Reference, Klipsch RP-8000f but nothing i mean nothing comes even close to jbl 590s/580s/530s for the price. Its a steal guys. You will not regret buying them. Honest opinion.

Getting dizzy with all these different speakers on sale recently... I jumped on the Infinity R263, so far happy with it (mostly classical music). But wondering how much improvement (if any) extra $100 each will buy...

Same here,I listened to both r253 vs r263.they are both similar except r263 have little more base nothing special.i do not mind spending little more but are these really better for music than r263? Also should I need that center and complete my LCR for music?

First off, this deal happens around the same time every summer. So don't feel rushed to go out and buy right now if you're on the fence. Search SD history for JBL 580 and you'll see it's an annual sale.

If you just want a good value floorstander and don't want to research much, I'd suggest save the money, get the JBL 580 (instead of the 590), and use the extra cash to get a good center channel.

If you're fortunate to have a secure, well-paying job during these difficult times, and are particular about quality, I'd skip this annual sale and move one level higher than Infinity/JBL. Hunt for local deals on the used marketplace for higher-end labels like Paradigm, Axiom, and B&W. Read AVS Forum, watch YT, stop by a high-end audio store and learn what is out there.

I'd invest in a mint condition pair of Paradigm Studio 100 v4/v5, and pair the towers with a CC-690 center channel, considered one of the finest center channels made. The trio is massive and isn't meant for small apts or condos. The speakers show up from time to time on CL/fleebay, and if you negotiate locally with a motivated seller, you can get two premium floorstanding towers and the kickass center channel for $1500-1800. I started with Klipsch when I got my first job out of college and outgrew them in a few years. I upgraded to Paradigm and haven't looked back.

The JBL 500 series is not a bad speaker, but I'd still consider it a gateway and not a forever speaker. Sort of like buying a house. You'll learn quite a bit from the first house and wise up over time.

Not hating on JBL, but there are definitely better options for near the same money. They don't happen to always be brand new, shipped straight to your home. If you are willing to hunt for higher-end speakers on the used marketplace, that's the real way to find value and nice quality speakers that you are much more likely to hold onto for many years. Better to research, not rush, and only spend money for nice quality things once.
