The RYOBI Tek4 Digital Inspection Scope is designed for the job site and is great for plumbing, HVAC work, and home repairs. It features 4 ultra-bright LED lights for complete image brightness control and a dimming control. With a sturdy design, it's easy to hold and use. The digital zoom feature provides up to 2X magnification. They following is included:
  • Inspection Scope
  • Lithium-Ion Battery
  • Charger
  • Operator's Manual

It is supposedly 'factory blemished' but it is widely accepted that the items are just new (and it is a way to get around that Home Depot has exclusive rights to sell new Ryobi products). This same item new from Home Depot is $99. Heck, the certified pre-owned model from Direct Tools is over $20 more at $75! I f you don't have a store nearby then shipping is a flat $7.

Cool concept, but 3' is basically useless, I would want the ability to check pipes, go deeper in walls, etc. I have used the USB versions before, one never worked other was very glitchy (tossed both). Looking at Amazon, there seem to be some decent units like this in the same price range, but with 16'.

Ryobi discontinued the Tek4 battery system (and tools) at around 2014, though original Ryobi batteries (1.3Ah) and better generic batteries (2Ah+) are available.

Direct Tools has the spare Tek4 battery [directtoolsoutlet.com] for $6.50, though they are likely 5+ years old.

Man wish i saw this post before i ordered. Would have snagged an extra battery. I doubt i need it for my uses though.

I saw a review that said he used it out the package with 1 bar of battery for 20 minutes and it didn't die on him. I don't expect to use it for more than that at a time.

Why you need night vision when it is better to see with LED lights? Just curious.
sometimes bright lights can reflect off things and make it harder to see? Dunno, figured night vision exists for a reason.

And I never said it was, but I did imply it would light up a dark space so the camera can work -- and from what I understand it does a fine job of doing that. For some misguided reason you think it needs night vision for the camera to work. If you need night-vision goggles you are in the wrong thread! LOL
just figured light might drown out the view in tight spaces, dunno, haven't used it myself

The unit has three levels/settings for the LED lights so that should allow you to get a suitable image.

I've got the Tek4 mini screwdriver and it's absolutely great for little things that don't require much torque, like assembling Ikea-style furniture or electrical face plates, door knobs or cabinet pulls, etc. The battery lasts at least all day (200+ screws) but it does take forever to charge, maybe 6-8 hrs? So the second battery is a must have if you don't charge it overnight

Tek4 was a great system. Too bad Ryobi walked away from it.

Exactly what type of illegal drug are you using?LMAO Why do you need Nightvision for plumbing, HVAC work, and home repairs?Peace Nowhere in the description says that this tool is used to locate enemies or for hunting at night.Applause

This may be helpful for those that need to see further than 3'.
