Kershaw Launch 4 ($60 + tax + shipping) $69

Seems like a pretty good deal for a quality automatic. Great reviews, CA legal, made in USA...

Final price was $68.80 shipped to GA, including tax ($5.10) and shipping ($3.71)

Its hard to find price history on this, but seems like generally goes for b/w $80-100.

There is a similar price at Optics Planet, but I have not bought anything from them and am weary of some their reviews.

I have this knife. I spent $75.50 with shipping back in February for this. I use it as my carry knife because it's so little. I usually have it clipped to the same pocket where my phone is and it never snags because how low profile this thing is. I don't have this knife for self defense for obvious reasons. It's very sharp and I like it a lot. Very easy to open and I love my olive green. I thought it's a pretty good price for automatic and it's American made.

I have this one (in CA, no less), and I personally would not recommend it. The ambidextrous design makes it hard to grasp, and there's no guard in case your grip slips forward towards the blade.

I've ordered several guns from them with no issues, also have ordered from optics planet multiple times with no issues.
Agreed, both good sights.

If you have the money to burn, the BenchMade Infidel is the way to go. BenchMade direct does participate in ID.me for those in a profession that qualifies... takes a bit of the sting off the high price. Great quality products.

Always wanted an auto knife. Curious to hear what people recommend
My preference is the Kershaw Launch 2. I think it can be had for about $75. or so, maybe cheaper for the 4th week-end. Just Google it as a number of sites carry it around that price, maybe slightly higher.

Just my two cents, as I own this exact model.

Great Knife
Great Action
Tiny Blade
Fun to play with

Echoing what others have said, it definitely has it's purposes if you want something small and compact to cut rope, twine, tape on boxes, etc.

I personally carry mine when I'm golfing and out hiking for the random occurrence that prompts needing a blade with out the bulk.

I saw this knife a few years ago and had considered buying it (think I found some great price on it at the time in the $60ish range) -- but, couldn't pull the trigger due to my concerns about legality. Cops and DAs have a lot of discretion to interpret laws. In my state the law considers assisted opening knives illegal **if** they have no other purpose (but that of a weapon). Of course, you can argue that you bough ANY knife, even an auto switch blade to open letters and wittle sticks... but good luck with that. You can argue with your criminal defense attorney how the police officer "doesn't understand" the law. I'm not joking in the least about this... the laws surrounding these types of knives and police officers flexibility in charging people with crimes is just to great a risk in my opinion -- at least if you want to carry this thing. If you just want to sit it on the table to open letters inside your home, then by all means... but if you want to EDC it, I'd urge extreme caution.

Always for knives you need to check your local city and state laws. For Michigan I recall the 3" blade length applies always, auto knifes are legal but can only have one sided blade otherwise its a dagger and illegal. For some reason in Michigan all fixed blades are also illegal unless using for hunt & fishing and concealed carry is a concealed pistol not a knife.. lol tell me that makes any sense

TINY is never better.. Especially at this price point. The leek or the blur is a far superior value.
