Wait did these become rare again? They were rare, then plentiful, and now rare again?

I have a couple new ones kicking around that I got for family that they didn't want. I guess I should sell them now.

Prices are/were quite high lately due to CV19 and these being OoP. Good to know Nintendo still have some refurb to sell. While yes you can add NES titles to the SNESC, there's only so much of the vast library on both consoles you can add to this limited space systems. Why not own both and have games on their respected systems?

I had both. The hardware is exactly the same. You can clone the systems to each other too.

The controllers alone are pricey now. These systems are easily worth over $100.

Or you could just go Retro Pie, or go one step further and make a Batocera box, *or* go further than that and get into MiSTers. The classic devices are extremely limited.

imo, if you're going to go the modding route, i would recommend getting a playstation classic for about the same $50 price. you can do ps1 games (obviously) but also snes, genesis, nes, etc. you kinda do need a usb drive and a micro usb otg adapter for the full experience though. only downside is you need to find it on ebay or maybe gamestop if youre lucky.

I've got a SNES Classic and a Retropie.

Both are collecting dust, but I've actually set up and played the Retropie. The SNES Classic hasn't even been opened yet.

NES only comes with one controller. That's garbage.

I would guess Christmas gifts and general remorse. I think the novelty quickly wears off and then you're left with the post-coital clarity that you just spent $60 or $80 bucks on a one-time fix on something that reminded you of that lost love from childhood but isn't what you actually needed to be happy.

My order isn't going through, tried 2 diff cards, said neither could be processed even though neither card denied the purchase...

The novelty has worn off for these but I'm so ready for a mini-N64 and a mini-game cube!

Post-coital...I think these are the wrong kind of toys for that.

I got a playstation classic for $10 and I really hate the menus and the pads. Also, the crt shader does not scale well at all and it was the biggest deal breaker for me.
I guess these mini consoles aren't for me. I'm mainly a pi4 user and it does everything I want, though it's meant for tinkerers.
