I like Blendtec better than Vitamix after having both (mainly due to the dull blades, love that!)
This thing can blend iphones. I think it can blend nut butters.

How do these handle nut butters? Have seen some video comparisons to Vitamix that suggest not very well?

Had my ninja blade meltdown so looking for a replacement for making pistachio butter mainly.

The addition of the wildside jar makes this a great deal. The twister jar, which is specifically designed for nut butters, retails for around $125. You can also get it in some Blendtec bundles, which retail $350+ (Groupon goods recently had the bundle for $266). But these bundle deals are hard to find so if you need it soon, I recommend taking advantage of this deal, and then finding the additional twister jar on sale elsewhere.

I make nut butters in the Twister Jar - it's fantastic for it. I've also made homemade nut butters with a vitamix.

With just the base included jars, the vitamix > blendtec for nut butters (due to the tamper)

in summary,
Twister jar (blendtec - makes amazing thick nut butters.) > vitamix (tamper helps but have to thin the contents, or it'll not make a consistent blend) > wildside (blendtec - really does a terrible job. have to stop and spatula very often)

I've had this blender for several years now and highly recommend it. We had an issue after 3 or 4 years with the piece connecting the motor to the jar which was causing it to grind and caused a bad smell like something was burning up. Called up Blendtec and they sent a new jar for free under warranty, which cleared up the issue.

Great blender but the jars fail pretty quickly. At least they warranty cover the jar that comes with the machine for a long time. This is why you never get refurbished. That's what makes this a decent deal.

I would strongly recommend not getting any blender without a tamper device. I had a Blendtec for about six or seven years (the length of the warranty) and used it (for smoothies) I would say less than 30 times (not joking). It was just a pain to use. You'd have to stop the blend cycle, stick a spoon to break up the clumps, and then repeat the process.

I've had a Vitamix now for about just a few weeks under a year and even in the first two months, greatly exceeded my entire use with Blendtec.

I wish I had bought a Vitamix (or literally any blender with a tamper, if one is allowed to have it due to patents, etc) when I had bought my Blendtec. I would have gotten YEARS of usage out of it.

The tamper just makes everything easy to use since you can smash food down into the blades and not have to stop the cycle to do the same thing with a spoon!

Got this last time it was posted there was a 10% off coupon so paid 180 but it's definitely worth 200. I bought the other lid from the blendtec website and an aftermarket tamper (can be found on Amazon...search for blendtec tamper)...need the other blendtec lid to make it work. Bought this so I can make ice cream with it using ice or frozen fruit sorbet with limited liquid. The only negative I found is that it needs a decent amount of liquid if you don't use a tamper... especially on medium... definitely on high. I pretty much only use low.

The 575 model is $80 more. Is it worth it for the extra speeds? Just trying to decide between the two. Thanks.
