You have this exact same model?? And were able to update the memory for 20Gb total??
Yes bought it last month and dropped a 16GB stick of Crucial in it. Works well.

Horrible brand. Was gonna purchase this but a friend told me about its rep. He said it didn't last him no more than month before he started having problems. Fried pixels, odd fans noises, & other bs he didn't want to get into. I've seen them pumping out deals for this brand lately. Its owned by the CCP so I'm guessing that they're desperate for cash flow cause of how bad their economy is right now from natural disasters & sanctions from the US & other countries. DO NOT BUY THIS PRODUCT!!! You have been warned.

IdeaPad 5: https://www.officedepot.com/a/pro...56-Screen/ [officedepot.com]

Same price, but IPS display instead of TN (and much brighter - 300 nits vs 220), better build quality (lid is metal), about 27% larger battery capacity (57 Whr), USB-C (supporting Power Delivery and display output), HD instead of VGA webcam, slightly lighter at 3.66 lbs (Office Depot specs are wrong)

Downsides: Ryzen 5 4500U with 6 cores instead of 8 (plenty fast), 8GB RAM is not upgradable (again, OD specs are wrong), half the SSD capacity (but cheap and easy upgrade), 1 fewer USB-A port

The IdeaPad 5 is a much better buy.
I checked out this IdeaPad 3 today in person at Office Depot. The build quality is a HUGE step down from my IdeaPad 5 at the same price. Plastic everywhere, and a bit shiny/hard. The TN panel is really awful. Not acceptable downgrades for the slightly faster CPU. I'd easily pay $200 more for the 5; at the same price it's a no-brainer.

LOL. Everything is made in China, you get over it or you turn off the modern world. As for their economy ... guess which country has double-digit unemployment because it never got a grip on COVID? Hint: not China.

How is this one compared to
https://www.dell.com/en-us/member...n5593dsshh
roughly $500+tax using 10% off+AMEX cash back

and
https://www.dell.com/en-us/member...43711c9e41
roughly $520+tax using 10% off+AMEX cash back

The OD one has bigger SSD, other than that, which one is better?

The Dells can be ordered with IPS display (Dell calls is WVA but is the same - on the first one you linked it's an upcharge). This OD Lenovo has a (much worse) TN display.

does it support video over USB-C ?
It does not, because it doesn't even have ANY USB-C port! The Office Depot specs are wrong. I can confirm from handling this in-store, no USB-C port at all. OP, please fix your description.

Lenovo's specs also show USB-A only. Go here and click the PDF icon for the full specs: https://psref.lenovo.com/Detail/I...81W40019US

Again, the IdeaPad 5 is a much better buy: https://www.officedepot.com/a/pro...56-Screen/. $30 less, you get much better build quality (lid is metal, and the other surfaces are a nicer, softer plastic, not shiny/hard), IPS display instead of TN, backlit keyboard, and USB-C that supports Power Delivery and display output. You get a smaller SSD and slightly slower CPU (but still faster than Intel Core i7, and nobody will notice the difference in normal use). RAM on the 5 is soldered only but dual-channel; the 3 has 4GB soldered plus 4GB in one slot. I think anyone buying the 3 over the 5 is nuts!

thank you for clarifying!

I'm struggling to understand how to connect two external monitors (two screens with extension) to these laptops at this price range. Is this possible at all?

The IdeaPad 5 I linked will work, it has two connectors that support video - USB-C (get an adapter or cable for HDMI/DisplayPort on the other end) and HDMI. I don't think this IdeaPad 3 will be capable of driving two external monitors since you can only connect one by HDMI.

Best Buy had an envy x360 4700 512gb, 8gb upgradable ram for $610 open box like new. All metal, quality build. A real slick deal at that price but I think it might have gone back up.

Costco has one also with Ryzen 7 4700U that I bought for $750 before tax. But that one has 16GB RAM. This one is $220 less! Still I prefer the Costco 4 year warranty and the 16GB already present and ready for use. But the price point is incredible on this one! $530!
does costco provide the warranty for 4 years without needing their credit card?

I'm just a basic member and would jump on that deal for the peace of mind costco provides but I got shit for credit

You'll likely use the 1 HDMI out for 1 monitor and then have to get either a Type C or USB 3.0 to HDMI (or DVI....or both) adapter for the other monitor. Cheapest adapter should run you around $20 on Amazon.
