rumor is mint sims from best buy expire on the date on the package, and not 45days from purchase like sims bought directly from mint.

3gigs @ $8/month is a pretty good deal.
a slick deal was last year's 12gig @ $10/month. hoping for best buy to repeat that deal

Yeah, would TU the thread if only 3gb were in the title

Dirt cheap. But mint mobile is significantly subpar.
So is Mint subpar to T-Mobile ? Is it possible their service has improved now that own all of Sprint's towers?

I've used this a few months ago. Can I use it for the same number again?

Mint is good. No complaints. I just cycle these 3-mth packs with a google voice main number so no need to port in and out.

I ported my main cellphone number to Google Voice. I can get calls to that GV number whenever I have wifi, even without a SIM card. When you are outside, the GV app will use your data plan to make/receive calls - that's when you will need a SIM card. I don't actually use the MINT Sim phone number, since I only use my GV main number through the GV app. (You use the SIM card phone number through the default Phone app).

There is a drawback which is privacy, with google having too much of my data. That's the tradeoff.

It's a little unwieldy but you could port your current number to Google Voice, and then forward whatever Mint gives you to that GV number. I set up all my kids this way and they can switch from provider to provider taking advantage of new customer deals.
great idea. Will do!

Can you guys elaborate? How does that work? I thought you need another "real" number to forward the Google Voice call to? Thanks a lot!

Do Best Buy gift cards work on these, or are they treated as 3rd party GC/equivalent and therefore cannot use BB GC?

Just want to check before ordering a BB GC for this.

Thanks. What I am not clear of is the part where you said you "cycle" Mint package with Google Voice number, or the other guy "forward" what Mint gives to Google Voice?

Does that mean you keep the same Google Voice number, but every once in a while you change the forwarding number (by buying this package of Mint for example)? If that's the case, isn't it cheaper and easier to just buy the $60 for 360 days package from Redpocket?

So basically after the 3 months are up, he can activate a new sim card which gives a brand new number. Getting a new number instead of porting is how you can keep taking advantage of these deals. But he uses Google Voice, so it has no effect what number Mint Mobile assigns him. Does that $60 1 year plan contain 3GB of data as well?

You don't have to forward the MINT number to GV. I don't use the MINT number at all, only the data plan.
