You're dying too, but it's a matter of when.
The mini vox 4k has dissappeared from the tivo web site, so this adds to the rumor. If the now one is just with the Lux remote and goes back up to regular price of $180, this deal is better. Note that it was on sale earlier for $120 direct from Tivo, so this isnt a bad price.
I think thats been scrapped unfortunately. I am buying one of these boxes for my parents, been waiting for it to go on sale. Tivo did say a new mini box is coming soon- it probably is just a new remote though.

lol people have been saying this for years. I dont think so and I hope not. I love my tivo system. My parents have it too and love it, soooo much better than rentting overpriced crappy cable boxes. My cable + internet bill after all fees and taxes is under $90 because of tivo, which I thinks a decent price.

Somebody else might need to chime in but I believe it lacks that capability. You can do that sort of thing though with the android app on my phone, but keep in mind that it doesn't have the full tivo interface and there's no channel skip. I bring this up because maybe you could just get an android stock of some sort. Even with that, I would wait for more replies from people who've actually done what you're asking. Might be super flakey. I think the biggest problem is that most folks don't have a hell of a lot of uplaod bandwidth, so that's where the trouble is.

Yeah, it was supposed to be for the fires and the rokus but that all fizzled off unfortunately.

Tivo says the mini vox has been discontinued and is being replaced shortly.

My wife loves her OTA and minis too ,,, when the minis decide to work. Have to go through reboots almost weekly to keep them talking. Am wondering if this'd be fix for the worst of the two. Main box works fine but I have to keep that up by where the antenna gets best reception, not by where she watches her programs most.

I have a couple of the really old minis. They do recorded and live tv fine but the apps struggle. I'll use Netflix on it sometimes and it's ok but the other apps aren't worth trying. I ended up replacing my old bedroom mini with this new mini box vox and it's soooo much better. I used the old one for many many years so I got my money worth out of it.

Must be on the same network*

*You could set up a site-to-site VPN. Mini uses Bonjour (or a similar protocol) along with some other broadcast stuff for discovery, meaning you would have to have a pretty complicated setup to get it to work.

For phone/ipad streaming you do NOT have to be on the same network. It used to be wifi for ios but now can use cellular. I have done this and it works fine , but has issues when my upload bandwidth at home is low

Thanks!

I bit the bullet for 2 to replace one broken mini that is stuck on boot and the other which arent the same specs as the vox mini......

Looks like VOX mini has 4 times the CPU twice the RAM, twice the flash, updated ethernet and HDMI and MOCA and 4k compatible for compatible apps. I think the 4k is only if you upgrade to Hydra/"New Experience" UI. I use the older UI
