Probably not a good choice--this has a 180 watt power supply and 1070 cards need about 500 watts if you are gaming.

yup, would need to change out the psu, also your card might not fit.

lastly, not sure if HP has proprietary mobo connectors so that a replacement psu would be difficult to do.

The HP in this deal really can't be paired with 1070, as the 1070 alone needs about as much power as the PSU can provide. Also, PSUs are very expensive right now, and as someone else pointed out, it's possible the HP has proprietary connectors on the MB and might not be compatible with a standard PSU.

The computer from Microcenter has a much better PSU and should be able to handle a 1070 well, and again as someone else mentioned, the HP at about 6 inches wide might not have room for a 1070, while the Microcenter case is around 8 inches and shouldn't be an issue.

Honestly your CPU choice is probably overkill for the application. Everything else is spot on for the application you've defined. If you're trying to get good value for money consider the flood of refurbished quad-core Dell and HP mini PCs out there that meet this spec at the $200-$250 price point. Then replace the box when the kids get serious... or put the savings into a video card or some other buff for your primary PC.

Good luck!

Looks like price is dropped down to $659.99. So they kinda jack up to $679.99 and gave out a $20 off $100 coupon last week huh?
