Yea, beware of this album. Read a review for it and someone noticed this is not the James Guthrie remaster from 2011. This the Sony remaster and quality is worse.
Interesting, the album picture says otherwise. Bernie Grundman is involves according to the picture which is typically who you want to see.

Perfect for old folks with a medical marijuana card.
While I resent your generalization, I can't say it isn't applicable to me.

Hopefully this isn't like most (all?) of the 'remasters', where they basically compress the dynamic range as much as possible to make the whole album sound louder at the expense of having any dynamic range at all. Pink Floyd is definitely an artist where dynamic range is necessary for the music.

I made the mistake once of buying Dire Straits, Brothers in Arms, remastered. They took out all of the dynamic range so that it was just one continuous wall of sound at somewhere around a continuous 0db's.
You can always check the dynamic range DB. Looks like this release has high marks for dynamic range. http://dr.loudness-war.info/album/view/170956 This is a great resource for anyone who hates the loudness wars of recorded music.

Doesnt preclude sony using Guthries master and effing it up. Just repeating what a review said. They are indeed different ASINs.

Great site! Thanks!

Hrmmmm, may have to dig out the Dire Straits CD again. It shows track 2 and 3 as having sub-stellar DR, but I could swear that I first noticed it on 'Your Latest Trick', which shows as track 4 with a good DR. Although, not sure at the moment which exact one I have from that list. I converted to all digital files many years ago, a mix of FLAC and mp3, depending on the album.

The original first comment that was very off color has been deleted by the author. Double embarrassing as it was from a pro. I didn't even want to copy the message. At least thankfully, he or a moderator dropped the message off

I got this last time on sale. I have a pretty decent setup, and it sounds good to my ears. It has a lot of nice extras included, too. A cool album sleeve/wrap, and a fun/random Pink Floyd postcard.
