I'm having trouble finding any hands-on reviews for this. Anyone find anything about temps, gameplay, etc.?
It's a new product so unlikely to find any reviews on it yet

slow outdated CPU (less than half of the advanced CPU in market - reason for why this is so discounted), wish this had a better CPU.
Also, 45w! Eat a lot of energy - NG.

This is likely a more apt comparison for the price point. I'm surprised that this CPU is roughly on par with the Ryzen 4500U from these benchmarks:

They typically put the Ryzen H processors in these laptops tho, not the U. So not really comparable. Ryzen H are significantly better.

If you compare in the $600-750 range ($600 non-discrete GPU options): the $600 Flex is a U, as is the $600 Envy. In fact I haven't seen a 4th gen Ryzen paired with a 1660Ti in this price range at all yet.

Have you seen the H with a discrete GPU in the $750-850 bracket?

Edit: did a quick look at the history over in /r/laptopdeals and didn't see any 4000 series Ryzen H + 1660Ti under $999. Some 3000 series though

The SSD is Intel 512GB M2. NVME w/ 32GB Optane

In addition, there is an empty SATA bracket. (not sure if connector is included)
You may refer HP's part detail here.

Good - less heat
Bad - performance drops comparing to mobile 1660TI.

Man, I like this config a lot except for the CPU. Want a 4 core at least. Oh well, onto the next deal.

Oh good to know. Should have looked it up rather than trust Best Buy product page. Product page says dual core. Thanks!

You're welcome! Now I'm struggling with keeping my ASUS G14 (so nice) or return for this (much cheaper)! Ugh!

Different use cases. The Envy will be smaller, lighter, and less powerful as a result, but will has the 2 in 1 factor and a touch screen. The Pavilion in this deal is a more powerful machine with discrete graphics, has a larger size (though not resolution) screen, and a better machine if you want to game on the go. But it will be a large unit and have poor battery life. Just depends on your use case, if you plan to use it a ton on the go or have it always near a power plug, and if you plan to do any sort of gaming.
