Can you elaborate, I'm out of the loop
They have a shorter window than Amazon and will make you return the item before processing the exchange out the door. I've bought motherboards from them, had them die, and they can't get the new one out to me for a week, only if they receive the old dead board. Amazon sends the replacement immediately and eventually when the dead item arrives, credits the account. Maybe things have changed recently, but that's really turned me off buying electronics from Newegg if they have potential to go south easily (like motherboards, CPU, etc)

I recently made the switch to AMD, bought an x570 mobo and a cheap r5 3600 cpu as a place holder until the 4000 series cpus come out. I was already planning on buying the AC Valhalla so thats 50 bucks I save right there, essentially the cpu comes to $209+tax and I just couldn't pass on that. It's not much of an upgrade over my 4.3Ghz all core R5 3600 for gaming but this will give me some more time to wait out for the 4000 series cpu prices go down.

Wonder if Amazon will Price Match this.
I am hoping they match this, as I just bought this exact processor on Amazon last week and am hoping they lower their price so I can ask them to refund some.

By third party sellers that have lead times of a couple weeks... that's not available
There are more than a dozen MB on X570 alone shipped by Newegg and can get it by July 14 via next day shipping. B550 too.. there some in Amazon and B&H photo too. It's available.

I also did the purchase and received from Amazon last week. This is for my son's birthday on the 22nd so as soon as the Newegg one comes in, I'm sending the Amazon one back!

Why would they keep making the X line when they have already moved on to XT? Anyone else thinking these will be phased out of production soon?
Ryzen XT is p much just a big pp flex. XT series boosts higher at the cost of more power drain and higher temps. Realistically, you won't see a noticeable gain for prolonged gaming. 3800xt and 3900xt don't come with the wraith cooler. AMD is leaving it up to retailers to adjust the prices for them through sales bc they know how their consumers will react to pricing on newer, stronger parts. In terms of cost/performance, X series beats XT but XT is undeniably faster (most noticeable with 3600xt vs 3600x bc better temps let it sustain a higher boost. 3900xt eventually thermal throttles down to 3900x performance)

Thanks! Big upgrade to my i7-3770k. Even more savings if we can sell the game.
They make it hard to sell. You have to install the hw to get the code.

"I want to build a gaming PC, should I buy this CPU?"

If you want an 8 core CPU with the best bang for the buck this is it. Save the money that you were going to spend on a Ryzen 3800XT or an Intel 10700k, buy this CPU and spend extra money on your graphic card, this combination will give you the best gaming performance. And especially because the new Xbox and PS5 have a very similar CPU to this one I think it will be useful for a long time.
That easy huh? Console gaming and PC gaming aren't the same thing. If you think two components are all it's going to come down to, then you're going to be rather disappointed. PCs generally have to run more tasks. The next gen consoles will actually be more efficient than your average gaming PC. If you're going to run with any of these processors, the most important thing is to be on a motherboard with an X570 chipset

Nice $40 premium isn't as bad as it was at launch.
The 3800X was 279.99 at the AMD event at Microcenter back in February. I had picked the 3800X up the week before for $299.99, went back the next week for a price match, after of course I purchased the 2600X for $79.99. Wink

Can't imagine needing an upgrade in the foreseeable future.Things sure have changed since my Cyrix 6x86 build.

No you didn't. I'd believe you if this was a 2700x considering I got 2 of them for around that price in the past 8 months. Once in November for like $179 year and another in February for $139

I'll probably wait to see if these hit that same price point this holiday season.

Why do I see the 1700x at higher prices? Isn't this one better?

2600x 184.99 on Amazon.
3700x +$75 for 10% increase in perf.

Same number of core threads
Not worth it imo.
Your research is bad, 2600x is 6-core 12-thread. 3700x is 8-core 16-thread.

For tasks that will make use of the extra cores, the 3700x is 50% faster than the 2600x.

The sweet spot in price to performance is the Ryzen 5 3600.
