Is this about as cheap as it'll get for chromebooks (aside from the non-touch posted above)? I haven't been following this type of product in years but now will need one for my daughter starting Kindergarden in the fall. It's kinder, so I assume it basically just needs to be able to do Zoom. I'm considering a cheap chromebook or maybe even a 10" tablet would suffice. TIA for any advice/suggestion
I bought Lenovo C330 during black friday last November for $180 for my daughter who's 1st grader. The C330 is smaller at 11.6 inch but also comes with the touch screen. It fits everything that she needs and now she uses evryday for her Zoom classes. C330 is no longer available but newer model C340 is now $260 at Walmart. I'm tempted to get another one for my other daugher if they will continue the distant learning at home coming fall. Btw, I think touch screen is a must-have for their ages before they develope their mouse control skills.

The processor is also much faster. Why batter life is less.

It's about 24% more efficient but wattage used is more than doubled.

They really don't get a while lot cheaper, especially for these specs. If you are getting with school work a monitor that isn't 11 inches I'm sure helps. At just over 4 lbs. this is pretty heavy for what it is but I assume it isn't leaving the house too often. I doubt you would use a touch screen often, I almost never use mine and would be fine without it. Without a moderate drop in specs, I doubt you would do much better. May be able to save another $50 with a likely long waiting game and a lesser computer. I'd bite right now if I didn't just get one last September.

This is a pretty decent price for a 15.6" IPS with a touchscreen.
Thanks guys, I appreciate it. I was considering the Lenovo Duet that keeps popping up at $250, but maybe this is the way to go.

Once you touch you can't live without touching it anymore! It's so much faster and easier to use your finger to scroll down on webpages or press buttons on webpages.

$50 off from retail for a chromebook. is this a joke?
Do they owe you anything? Sorry to be blunt. This is a 279 dollar chrome book and 50 off is about 18 percent off...try asking Apple to do this on their line who have much heftier margins, or even Surface books..

This is a great price for a fully featured chromebook.

These are pretty indestructible. The schools mostly use Google classroom, so this will integrate well. I would go for this over a tablet

Trying to get a laptop for my 60 year old dad. All he does is watch youtube and browse the internet. Not tech savy at all. Seems like a good option here. Any disadvantages for the elderly or a better option?

At check-out, Walmart adds a $5 "Merchandising Fee". I've never seen/noticed that before - any idea what that's about?

My girlfriends sister works for Walmart and always tells me horror stories about not to buy tv's or computers from Walmart
My wife's boyfriend is an Assistant Manager in our local Walmart's electronics department, and he has nothing but good things to say about there computers and TV's.

Keep in mind this is a fairly big laptop, if you are looking for something small, this is not it.

At one point this chromebook 315 was $213 on Amazon. I had Target price match it, and I bought it for my sister who said she liked the touchscreen, 15.6" screen (larger than her previous 13.3" chromebook), and the sale price. She wasn't too picky about tech though.

My 71 year old dad loves his Chromebook. The touchscreen is really helpful and keeps him from getting "stuck."

Compare to this the BB HP Chromebook deal for $399 was much better.
Will be picking that up tomorrow.
