I have a 40 year corded Wahl. There is no way that one with a battery would last anywhere near that time. If you don't plan on using it frequently, a corded one is better. It will last longer and you don't need to worry if it is charged. If you like trimming all of the time, the cordless might be a convenience that you would like. But the key point here is that this one is available now.
Corded bro, imagine yourself with half a haircut. Thank me later.

Question is, what is the better buy, this or Costco one when in stock? https://www.costco.com/wahl-delux...41517.html

Seems like this might be if you don't need the other cordless add-on?
I just cancelled my Costco backorder after 45 days of waiting. Got it when it was "in stock". Was marked as "shipped" on 5/31, but didn't. Spent several hours trying to get to Costco online order support (over an hour wait *all the time*). Kept getting dropped. Finally talked to the in-store customer service who has a special back-door number to the online order support where it gets picked up instantly (no, they didn't give me the number, just dialed it for me right there). The guy said "back ordered even though said shipped, no clue when it's going to get shipped".

So if you want to actually use it some time this year, get the Walmart one. If you don't care how many *months* it's going to take to get it, Costco looks like a really nice set. I just came back from Costco (the brick-n-mortar store I went to to check on my *online* order, WTF?) and specifically searched here for alterntive places to buy a set. I'm going with this one from Walmart because I want it *now*, not months from now.

Which version is better?
Corded (this one) or the cordless version (Amazon back-order).

Easily cordless. I have this one (large 2500mAh battery) and have had 2-3 haircuts and have also trimmed my beard; still has charge (havent recharged). People saying corded have probably never tried a good cordless.

Wahl and other name brands are outdated IMO, Surker and Kemei (and probably other chinese companies) are taking over. Look at PremierCuts on youtube, and also search google with whatever model you're interested in and put reddit. Doing that you will see professional barbers who compare these $50 chinese clippers to $150+ Wahl's.

$35 pre covid...ouch...$52 worth it over these Wahl's? I dont have time to research but happy to hear your thoughts thanks. I don't plan on going to a barber ever again so I'm happy to invest if worthwhile.

Check PremierCuts video for more info, they're basically these clippers but I think alittle better battery life:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3xb1EURu71s

Only con is the guards go upto #4 (but they come with #1.5 and another half size nice for fade). If you have some old Wahl guards you can use those if you need higher than #4. They're sitting at 66% battery life after charging on May 15th, they have been used to trim my beard, my hair a few times, and my dad even used it as a trimmer when his stubble was too long for shaving. Considering these seem compare well to Wahl 5 star cordless (like $200 clippers), the price increase isnt so bad especially since you're skipping ordering from china.

I imagine that a barber wouldn't be happy with the guards, but for home use, this set will be just fine.

Good info. Any thoughts on getting these at <$33 through Ali or the like? Any fakes or just the usual inconsistent quality?

FWIW my barber used a corded Wahl with me for at least the last 10 years (though I'm sure a higher end one than the Color Pro in this thread). I picked up a corded Color Pro when the whole COVID mess started in March and I've been totally satisfied with it. Over the short term I'm sure a cordless would be fine and a bit more convenient, but I've had too many device batteries die over the years and had trouble getting replacements. Unless I have specific portability needs I usually opt for corded devices now.

I've been thinking of this one https://www.amazon.com/Remington-...GXVPC5TSQJ

Doesn't have tamper though not that i really need it. Tad cheaper cause of shipping and I'm not stupid that I need color to tell me it's 1/2 inch when it's printed on the thing already. JS
