AND it needs every bit of that cache, because when it the cache runs out, it's slow as molasses. 1GB is nothing. I regularly write more than 1GB. The lower cache on the WD Blue is not as relevant because it does not turn to molasses after the cache is full. QVO QLC does.
A normal user will definitely not write in order of GBs, also its not just about speeds Dram also adds endurance & more life to the ssd

Avoid the BX.
check this one https://ssd.borecraft.com/SSD_Buy...e_List.pdf
if you want a OS drive or game drive then MX500 not BX500 , WD blue 1 TB is still better but dram cache adds endurance with performance, the one I listed in not 3D NAND version

https://hardforum.com/threads/2-d...e.1996492/ deal is expired now just adding this for future buyers to clear doubts on dram in wd blue models

Thought only the "green" series were DRAM-less . Always assumed blue had it, am I wrong ?
There are some Blue SSDs and even NVMEs that are DRAM-less.

Avoid QVO Drives at all cost. MLC, TLC can be OK, but NOT QVO. You want either MLC or TLC 3d with DRAM. QVO = crap
Technically QVO is not a thing. QVO is Samsung's model line for QLC SSDs.

WDBNCE0010PNC-WRSN is newest verison it does have 3D NAND on the package.

WDS100T2B0A-00SM50 is older model but still has 3D NAND on package also.

WDS100T1B0A-00H9H0 is first release that uses 2D NAND.
Not sure where you're getting this from but WDBNCE0010PNC is not even on WD website. So I guess it's so new the manufacturer has not even posted information on it.

I'm a tech luddite. I have no idea what 3D means in this context or if I need it. I'm looking for an SSD to speed up an old Mac Mini I use for work (Excel, Powerpoint, Outlook) and occasionally for basic photo and video editing. I'm sure will be a huge upgrade over the standard hard drive, but for my purposes, should I pay more for a newer 3D version? Will it be a noticeable difference?
Someone posted here that this, WDBNCE0010PNC, is the newest. I can't even find it on WD website so IDK. The one that says 3d was the newest and best buy image lacks that so depends if the other person is right or not.

The spec sheets.

The newer one is slightly faster and has a longer warranty. If it's like 10 bucks more, makes sense to just get the newer one.

If you are wanting a single quality ssd for your machine to replace your hard drive, my recommendations are crucial mx500 or Samsung evo. As you can tell from the discussion here, the details on the wd here is a little ambiguous, but it would still be an upgrade from your HDD. But if you just want one nice ssd for everything, go mx500 or evo.

We've been here before folks. It's 3D NAND. The pdf says "3D NAND" at minimum 11 times on the data sheet.

So...I'm like 72% positive it's 3D NAND....

How is it not a "thing". If anyone who is slightly computer literate hears it they know exactly what is being said. https://www.amazon.com/Samsung-Inch-Internal-MZ-76Q1T0B-AM/dp/B07L3D19MY/ref=sr_1_2?dchild=1&keyword... [amazon.com]

Because it's not. It's QLC.
