Because it's not. It's QLC.
OMG! If we're talking about crucial drives and someone mentions that mx is better than bx are you going to correct them too? You're worse than the grammar police.

Wd black hdd or ssd external ? Or m.2 nvme black ? If you are referring m.2 wd black thats nvme 4x faster than any sata iii interface. SATA III can theoretically go up to 600 mbps after all the Dram-less/ dram/ then SLC TLC MLC jargons practically its close to 570-580 for evo only. The Nvme pcie m.2 has 4x channels of parallel serial interface. if you remember the old IDE interface before serial sata 1 they combined both into one & invented pcie . M.2 is the form factor

The nvme post a few weeks ago. Didn't realize it runs this ho (using ext enclosure). Now I don't want to put it my new laptop. Most likely will return it

How is it not a "thing". If anyone who is slightly computer literate hears it they know exactly what is being said. https://www.amazon.com/Samsung-Inch-Internal-MZ-76Q1T0B-AM/dp/B07L3D19MY/ref=sr_1_2?dchild=1&keyword... [amazon.com]

QVO is a thing they just released 870 QVO this month. 8TB releases in August

People seem to read the first sentence and ignore the rest. QVO is not a "thing" as in it's not a type of cell memory. Qvo is Samsung's model line for QLC drives. Samsung's Evo model line are MLC drives. There's MLC, TLC, QLC and SLC. It even says QLC in the bottom link. And saying MX is better than the BX series is correct so hopefully no one is saying the opposite.

With external enclosure the speed is capped based on the usb 2 , 3 or 3.1 port adapter you anyways not utilising its capabilities as nvme drive is much faster and almost all new machines has them now a days. I am sure your new machines oem ssd will not be as good as wd black you can try replacing that & get the speed test results
