Awful deal. This tool was 56.01 during the +HP battery deal when I bought it for my father and step father.

This is a tool im interested in. would love more input from others as if this is an actual deal or not, because, due to the heavy brigading of this site by DTO, you cant tell if a critical comment on one of their deals is downvoted because it is inaccurate, or downvoted because they are brigading the site.

I have no issues with dto and have bought tools from them. The facts are that tool has been included in the free tool sale which makes it $56.01 that way and $99 is not really a deal even marginally. The tool itself is just fine. I didn't fill my ryobi cabinet with regular priced tools though.

What is this tool good for? I haven't used a band saw since woodshop in 7th grade.

I used to own a handheld bandsaw, and I'm still not sure what it's for.

I think all the ads I've ever seen show it cutting an iron pipe, which I'd rather do with the sawzall for better access.

Great. You've said the same thing twice now.

cutting conduit, cutting metal fencing, cutting rebar, etc.... anything you would use a hacksaw for this would work great.

Only with somewhat shady order and cancel tactic. Also, just because you got it that cheap once doesn't mean you'll get it that cheap again.

Not as good a deal as prior but still better than full price.

Even with out cancelling the batteries, the fact is that this tool was available as part of that promotion, which meant that for the same $99, you got the (new) tool, 2 batteries, and a charger, which is clearly a better deal than just the (factory blemished) tool for $99. That said, you are correct that there is no guarantee that they will repeat that promotion, and this tool is still on sale compared to the normal price.

I always shop on those $99 battery deals, and I don't think I've seen this tool for a long time now...

For all of you saying this deal isn't good, there is no previous SD post for the tool alone at this price or lower.

Just be aware that the cutting width on this is only 2.5". It's a very good portaband but it limits the size of the conduit, angle iron, exhaust, PVC, etc. that you can cut with it. Most conduit, bar stock, rebar and angle iron needs would be fine but a lot of exhaust and PVC cuts for bigger projects may need more cutting diameter. Battery power makes it really portable but, for about the same price you can get a Bauer (corded) from HF with a 5" x 5" cutting depth and get a table from SWAG to convert it into a stand-up saw for added versatility as well. Certainly not knocking this as I want one and already have a stationary band saw but, not sure if the limited cutting size is worth the exchange for being battery powered.
