Editor's Notes & Price Research

Written by

Romancing SaGa 2 takes the varied gameplay of other entries in the series and combines it with an open-ended free-form scenario system whose story is as vast as the world in which it plays out. The player takes the role of a succession of emperors, painting the history of the world with each and every action.

Normally $17.99. Square Enix doesn't have the best track record of large (> 50% off) sales, so I bought this right away (~ 83% off).

Romancing SaGa 2 on Google Play [google.com]
Romancing SaGa 2 on the App Store [apple.com]

On sale to celebrate the 30th anniversary of the SaGa series. The sale is scheduled to end for Google Play on Aug 2, 2020.

I haven't ever played the game, so I can't comment on it yet.

Way better deal than the BS $12.49 sale price [playstation.com] that Squenix wants for the PS4 version.

I spent a half hour with it today on my Android phone (Pixel 3 XL) and it was fine. It didn't feel too cramped/small if that's what you're asking about.

Android doesn't seem to support them, and from reading comments it sounds like iOS doesn't either. I played around with it for about a half hour and found the touch controls to be fine. They weren't amazing, but I've suffered through worse. Overall I'm very pleased to pick up the game at this price, and excited to play more.

Yes, thanks! Some games don't really work on the smaller screen w touch controls.

better than the F2P Romancing SaGa Re;univerSe?
I remember playing and gave up on it back in the SFC/SNES days. The skill learning was too random.

I think you're right. No game pad support, and I don't see any language options in the game. I would still say it's worth the sale price unless those are deal breakers for you though. Square Enix rarely has sales this good. If you're on the fence, I'd say go for it.

Saga frontier was the best ugh. Game was wild. Like 8 different characters you can start with. That DSC move was the best haha and then using implosion. great game
