The IdeaPad 5 with Ryzen is a much better buy: https://www.officedepot.com/a/pro...56-Screen/

For $80 more you get:
- A much better display (IPS 300 nits vs TN 220 nits)
- A much faster CPU (Ryzen 4500U, 6 cores) that's also more efficient (runs cooler/longer battery life)
- Much bigger battery (57 WHr vs 35) - I'm getting 8-12 hours of real use on my 5
- Much nicer build quality (aluminum lid and soft plastics, rather than the harder plastics on the 3)
- Lighter weight (3.66 lbs vs 4.08)
- Backlit keyboard
- USB-C supporting Power Delivery and display output
- HD webcam (instead of VGA resolution - 0.3 MP!)

The only downside is the 5's RAM is all soldered (dual-channel; ignore the Office Depot specs that say upgradable, they're wrong). But honestly 8GB is plenty for 99% of uses, and the 3 only has one SODIMM slot (4GB soldered + 4GB in the slot) so you need to take out 4GB to upgrade, and only 8GB total can operate in dual-channel mode.

Crazy that this IdeaPad 3 is FP, when the 5 is so much better. I'd say the differences are easily worth $280 never mind $80!
This isn't bad for your needs! It would be good for all the things you listed. As far as the best deal for this price, maybe not... it's not phenomenal or anything, just a solid choice. If you're someone who wants to wait around for a week or two and monitor laptop deals, something better would likely come up. It really depends what you're looking for. I would go for this one over the one you linked, though.
The best deal could be the one below for $299. It's in and out of stock all the time. Currently OOS, but was in stock last week and a friend bought it. It might be back in stock within the next few days.

Nice! Full HD, decent RAM, decent SSD. What's the Achilles heel on this laptop? (I don't see one.)

I wish we were still in the market for a laptop. We would have gotten this one instead.

Display is probably not very good - only real downside, but for the price probably not going to find something with the same specs and a really nice screen.

Hoping someone can help me out. My 11 year old iMac finally died...I'll need something for my son to do virtual school on (hes only 5 so his requirements arent much), and some basic household bill paying, web browsing, streaming some tv shows on occasion.

I dont wanna spend a lot, but dont want garbage either, since I'll in essence be buying a 2nd laptop for work... for this one I wanted to go no higher than 500-600.

What's the difference between the posted deal and this model? https://www.walmart.com/ip/Lenovo...SellerId=0

Any insight would help. I haven't looked at anything computer related in over a decade and I have no idea what's a good deal. Ideally I'd like something that we can use for several years...

Not bad for an i3 but you may want to take it out of windows 10s mode.

It's a different CPU, and the posted deal has a bigger screen. This one specifically says the screen has 1080p HD resolution. The other doesn't specify.
