I would buy one if 1) it supported drop in, 2) it supported groups and 3) it was AC3000.

I like the price. I really want to buy one. I just cannot get over the handicaps. 😖
Not as fast as an RBS50 satellite unfortunately.
The RBR20 is a Router and not a satellite, so based on the research that I've done it will not work with your RBR50. Seems like the cheapest price for an Orbi satellite is around $150.

FWIW: Satellites have model numbers that start with RBS and routers start with RBR.

I bought one from Netgear directly around this price and hooked it up yesterday. I am getting 400+ Mbps wireless on my iPhone 8 Plus with this unit. I also hooked up my TV with a wired connection to this and things are flying on it!!! Don't look for specs on paper... this is great (going by my less than a day experience)

I have an Orbi mesh (RBK20) which I have loved (never loved a Wifi system before) and I would have jumped on this if not for you pointing out these important shortcomings. Thanks!

How is the sound compared to HomePod or Echo Studio?

Was $90 direct from netgear a few days ago.

Waiting for a RBS50 as the back haul is lowered with this unit.

I currently own this paired with the Orbi RBR50. 100% do not recommend. My house is <2500 Sqft single story with cable internet access on one corner connected to the RBR50 and this satellite somewhere close to the middle of the house. Signals are constantly dropping between the two. It's a nightmare when trying to do Zoom calls or stream anything. Constant drops and reconnect (which would probably be fine for general browsing because the reconnect is almost instant, but for anything that needs a constant connection it is garbage).

I am switching out to the Google Nest with access points on the upcoming Costco deal and this one is headed back to Costco.

Sound (when it works) is fine. Alexa is less than ideal. Doesn't seem to work nearly as well as the echo dots. Overall...no, don't waste your time or money.

Yes it has Alexa handicaps and yes it slows down the backhaul on my RBK50 but for the price and for the average user, this thing is working well to extend my network. My DL/UL speeds remain the same and better for that one dead spot (my master bathroom/workroom). Transferring data over past few days have had no noticeable change (backing up photos). Bought it during last deal and notices it goes in and out of stock, so check back if it goes OOS again.

This is a single ac2200 satellite though for $99 bucks. A single ac3000 satellite costs a lot more, such as the RBS50 satellite the person above noted that is faster than this for $250 bucks. I would hope for that $250 price it's faster than this $99 satellite. And the speaker is just a bonus in my opinion, if you want all the Alexa features you can find echo dots for $10 bucks nowadays

The rbk20 is ac2200, so shouldn't be a setback

I am talking about the lack of Alexa features. I would consider replacing an Echo in the house with this but it needs to be able to do drop in.
