Dont do it.
Gigabyte's support is horrible and RMA is illusory. I had the 32 for all of 35 days, then the backlight started failing.

Gigabyte doesn't do return shipping on RMAs. The return shipping quoted to me was $300... Basically if your monitor is broken, their opinion is F.U.

Buy at your own risk. Wish I had known.

Bought the 32" version a month ago and it's awesome. Ran Final Fantasy 14 on it with max settings at 1440p 165hz no problem. Didn't bother using HDR tho like most monitors in this price range.

This is what worries me and the "warranty" that comes with these monitors(and other brands).. I keep hearing about horrible customer service when anyone tries to get an RMA.

Here's a fairly comprehensive review. Seems this unit had over 300cd/m2 but contrast came in below the advertised spec at 2590:1.
It's google translated from French.

I have a similar issue with my 32" I bought on 5/26 from Newegg. About two weeks ago the left side of the monitor's backlight has been weird. If I leave the monitor on for more than a couple hours, the left 1/3 of the monitor goes dim. Weirdly, if I power cycle the monitor it fixes it... until it happens again.

It's mostly annoying because I've been in the habit of always leaving my monitor on, even when my computer is off or on sleep. I have to manually turn it on/off several times a day.

I'm going to request an RMA, but looking at posts like this I'm thinking I'm screwed out of nearly $400.

Aside from that it's a solid monitor. I was super happy with it for a month.

Is this comparable to this model at costco at all?
https://www.costco.com/acer-27%22...11606.html

Built in speakers as a backup seem like a nice addition, 165hz vs 144hz sure, but other than that what are the main differences that make this GIGABYTE model better?

Thank you in advance for any insight on this!

Yup. I thought it was great, until it wasn't. Then I found out the real price of buying from Gigabyte. I'm done with them.

I'm debating about buying this Acer myself.... most reviews for it seem fairly good... worst case scenario if I hate it I can return it in a few months. Gotta love that Costco warranty and return policy.

Is there a brand of monitors where they would pay for shipping both ways while in warranty besides only Dell's top of the line monitors, which I can't afford? I'm in the market for a 27" 2k or a 34" 4k? These things are really expensive to ship back where it costs an arm and a leg, especially if it's insured. Normal folks don't get a discount whereas large companies do. So I'm looking for a company with good warranty policy where they foot the bill on two way. OR, let the customers return the product to where they bought it so that the store would do a bulk exchange with the manufacturer, since I believe they deal with each other frequently and have the means to do so. The driver of a large cargo van don't just drive one way and not expect to go back home, right? I buy a large monitor and when it burns out while it's in warranty, I damn well expect the warranty to cover the shipping. There should be some laws on these, otherwise, people just leave monitors on the street and you have kids jump, kick, and destroy monitors, where the net effect is to harm the environment. Why should customers have to pay recycling fees on these products when manufacturer's don't cover return shipping? Imagine one buying a large 49" 5k monitor only to find that certain companies use cheap components where it would fail a few months to a year. Really shitty, man. If laws can be passed for plastic bags, I don't see how laws can't be passed for warranty return shipment, this way, the playing field across all manufacturers are equal. There needs to be strong protection for consumers, otherwise, product quality go down the drain where ultimately the harm will be done to the environment.
