I was looking for one of these. Was going to buy it last week, but it just went on sale. I think this was advertised for 999.99 at Costco last year, but I don't think it will go that low.

Will this go high ebough for a Model Y to change tires?
Yes. The Y is just a fat Model 3.

Is this kind of Jack just good as an alternative to a jack and stands, for changing tires and basic stuff? I was thinking of getting a 2-post lift but in my garage I'm wondering if I'd be able to get it very high anyway, which is the main benefit of a lift in my eyes.
You need at least a 12 ft ceiling to really use a two post. And you have to hunt to find one that will work at 12 feet as most like a higher ceiling than that. But, having said that, a two post is MUCH more usable than these portable things. Challenger makes some decent ones for a decent price.

Depends on if it has the optional OJ Simpson or not.
Almost certainly. And don't believe the "curb weight". My 09 Town and Country actually weighs 4900lbs. for example. Yes, I happen to own a certified truck scale.

Read my earlier post. I did a bunch of work on my bimmer and saved over $4K in labor and parts. Paid for itself several times over.
I understand that. I can also save a lot of money to pour a concrete slab by buying a concrete mixer and doing it myself but unless I'm doing it regularly, I can just rent one and save more money. I'm not knocking the purchase as I wouldn't mind one myself but you still have to crawl on the ground.

What's the margin of error engineered into this? I'm not worried about my car, but I have a recent Cayenne with a curb weight of 4600lbs. I generally overbuy things when it comes to weight and safety.

Does it say which power unit this ships with? I'm guessing 120v AC but the 12v DC would make this a killer deal for anyone doing a track day or autoX event and needs to quick swap a set of tires or make a suspension adjustment on the day
120v AC. If you have room in your track day setup for a spare set of tires and a quick jack I'm sure you could run a sufficient inverter as well.

You'll be fine with this.

For the once a year I would personally need something like this, wonder if I could get the same effect using 4 harbor freight 3ton Daytona floor Jack's? I already have 1, so would need 3 more.

If Costco was to advertise this for a lower price in the next 6 months, would they refund the difference?
Based on my experience, Costco has a great return policy. If it goes down, you can always return it and get the lower price one or they will do a price adjustment.

Good luck hanging these on the wall. They weigh like 100lbs each
It's not that hard to do. I hang mine up on them after every use.

Make sure you check your cars jacking points before you order. These would not work for all my cars. The fact that they don't do anything quality jack stands won't do made me pass on them. Check out Esco jack stands if you want to do your own work and don't want to drop this kind of $.

You asked "how can it pay for itself quickly?", which is what I was answering by providing an example.

If you don't like crawling under the car/working on your car then this isn't for you. It's not a robot that's going to do the job, but simply a tool to make the job at hand easier; you're still going to have to put in the work.
