I spent the better part of middle school and even some of high school playing these games until WAY too late in the night. Amazing games.

You could make the argument that AoE 2 is the greatest RTS game of all time and I wouldn't argue.
I love AOE2 but that prestige goes to Starcraft and Starcraft 2

Strongest infantry with snail pace = Turk Infantry
Best cavalry = Paladin.

It's best if you educate yourself on how to do it, so you don't take the advice of someone and maybe they end up being wrong. These are old games though, so most laptops would probably run them... however... A general recommendation I'd have is that you might be able to get a good Thinkpad off of eBay with decent specs for $100-$250.

For you to figure it out for yourself though, you should look up the Recommended Specs to run the game. Take note of what it says... Then compare the CPU, RAM, Graphics Card, and all that to the "Recommended Specs" for this game, to see if the laptop can run it.

There are also sites like "CanYouRunIt" that you can use to check whether the computer you are on can run the game, but sometimes the tool it uses is blocked by your antivirus, adblock, etc... so, again, it's best if you educate yourself on how to look things up for yourself. Here's a general "Thinkpad" eBay search: https://www.ebay.com/sch/i.html?_...rome&rt=nc

There's also DiscountElectronics... I know they offer their own limited warranty on refurb laptops. They're likely a little pricier than a Thinkpad from eBay. https://discountelectronics.com/used-laptops/

Honestly though, I used my grandfather's old laptop probably 15 years ago to play the Command and Conquer games... and it worked fine for that. Games were a lot less demanding back then. So, again, you likely don't need to spend much at all for a laptop that could run games from this era. I'd be more concerned about the battery of an old laptop though, hinge issues they might have from wear and tear, etc.

Did anyone here play Choson war? Of the thousands of hours I played this, most was spent on that unofficial game mode.

The original age of empires 1 (not ror) is the greatest RTS game of all time. After Microsoft Gaming Zone shut down I couldn't find another place to play. I heard rumors that Vietnam is still running the RoR version.

I'm thrilled someone else remembers and loved it. So simple and stressful because it was so fast paced. I was playing this DE version a bit and noticed there is an option to auto replant farms. That one factor would completely change cho war. Having to recycle farms constantly to sustain your flood of swordsmen was a big part of the gameplay.
