LOCKED to Cricket- requires 6 months service to unlock. Stacks with $25 referral credit for NEW account. Existing cricket customers also can get $50 credit read wiki .

Search eBay for "$25 cricket credit iphone"- the FREE referral link is in the eBay item description here's no need to pay $0.99. REMEMBER sharing, advertising, or PMing referrals is a VIOLATION of SD rules & can result in a BAN

EXISTING
Cricket Customers

STEP 1
Create a new account to purchase the phone. You can self refer and both your existing and new accounts will each get $25

If you have a non-AT&T number, you can port into Cricket. If you have an AT&T number, you can purchase a non-AT&T number from eBay

STEP 2
Before purchasing your free iphone with the new email address, generate the $25 referral coupon from your existing cricket amount. (Search eBay for "$25 cricket credit iphone"- the FREE referral link is in the eBay item description here's no need to pay $0.99) REMEMBER sharing, advertising, or PMing referrals is a VIOLATION of SD rules & can result in a BAN

Your referral code expires 30 days from generation- purchase and activate during this time period

STEP 3
IMMEDIATELY after activating your new phone, enter your unique referral code emailed to you in the "Everything's Better with Friends" section of the myCricket app or Cricket online website. After inputting referral code, you will see a 60 day countdown tracker in the "Everything's Better with Friends" on when your $25 credit is credited.

Downgrade immediately your plan to the $30 plan. You will get the full $30 prorated credit if you downgrade within the first day of activation.

STEP 4
After 2 months on cricket plan, both your new and old accounts are credited each with the $25 referral. 2-3 days before your third month is charged on your new account, call cricket customer service to merge your new account with your old account ensuring your $25 credit from the new account is transferred/ merged with your old account and then cancel that additional line that was merged

NEW
Cricket Customers

STEP 1
If you have a non-AT&T number, you can port into Cricket. If you have an AT&T number, you can purchase a non-AT&T number from eBay

STEP 2
After purchasing your free phone, immediately secure a $25 referral coupon from the cricket referral program (Search eBay for "$25 cricket credit iphone"- the FREE referral link is in the eBay item description here's no need to pay $0.99) REMEMBER sharing, advertising, or PMing referrals is a VIOLATION of SD rules & can result in a BAN.

Once a referral code is generated, it expires within 30 days.

Change your plan to the $30 plan. You will get the full $30 prorated credit if you downgrade within the first day of activation. You should now have 2 full months of service with the $60 you prepaid and just have to pay $5 more for an extra third month of service. After 6 months on cricket you can request your free cricket phone to be unlocked

RSIM15 Instructions

This is what worked for me:

I activated Cricket service, set up the phone under my Apple ID, and also updated to the latest iOS. All that with Cricket SIM in tray, as per usual. [Did try to power on the phone for the first time with my preferred carrier's SIM (T-mobile) just to test if the phone comes unlocked but no luck there. It's locked.

To work with your carrier of choice, try RSIM plus carrier's SIM in tray. If you get the pop-up menu, code the ICCID as per instructions. I did not get the menu and was unable to change the ICCID that way.

The workaround was to remove the carrier's SIM and inserted Cricket SIM but with RSIM still in the tray. Then go to "Settings" - "Cellular" - "SIM Applications" - "Edit ICCID" and enter the most recent ICCID number (you can find one here: https://geveystore.com/).

After coding is done, remove Cricket's SIM, insert your carrier's SIM (again, with RSIM still in the tray), and you should be able to register on the carrier's network. I think I needed an extra reboot or two and had to enter Apple ID / Password to proceed.

After the phone connects on your desired carrier, be sure to navigate to Settings - Cellular - Cellular Data Network to ensure the APN settings for your carrier are entered correctly. For T-Mobile, use info found here: https://www.t-mobile.com/support/...ple-iphone

I understand and was tossing it out for potential T-Mo users.
I jumped on this deal last week when it was posted "on sale" for $49 (plus $60 plan). Thought I stole it for the entire week until I saw an updated offer on Cricket's website today and started reading about the deal on the original thread...Oh, well, it is what it is... Mad.

I admit I am not 100% certain how the lack of Bands 66 and 71 affects the daily use of this phone but I can confirm it works just fine on T-mobile with RSIM14+ 'soft' unlock.

I also purchased this phone with a primary intent to hopefully score a killer trade-in deal when upgrading to a new, current model (new Pixel, iPhone 12, etc).

Lastly, for those thinking about pulling the trigger, check your credit cards (Chase, Wells Fargo AMEX, maybe others?) as there is an offer to receive $25 credit for activating new service on Cricket. Also, $5 cash back from reputable website. If you're lucky enough, you could get this brand new phone for about $30.

For those who need a phone number, see current offers from Tracfone - they do sell some cheap Android phones for $0 (TCL A1 (A501DL) reconditioned) with a plan / new number (all for $15).

Any tricks to get my wife's att prepaid number to cricket to get this deal for her?
Depends on how much you want it. What you could do is
Port her ATT prepaid to cricket
Buy Tmobile port number and port that to cricket to get the deal
Buy phone with tmobile port and sell the credit but keep the phone
Pop att to cricket port sim card in iphone
good to go

Oh I see. And just disregard the new cricket number and sim I would get for the port? And simply use the sim tied to her real number that was also ported.

Anyone know if you can cancel the first month service but keep the phone? Wondering about getting these & RSIM 14+ for my family to use on MintMobile, but not sure on the particulars of the processes

I get what you're saying.

If I did what I was saying then I could just get it and use it on Cricket and it would be unlocked in 6 months on cricket.

People can also use RSIM 14+ to be able to use it on other carriers right away.

Other than that, people have to just realize there's a reason Cricket locks it.
I dont think rsim works any more, any one successfully tried recently?

You can sell the one you ported in to get the discount, yeah. You MIGHT be able to get a CSR to transfer the credit to the att port number but that might be hit or miss

I'm not super experienced with Cricket and prepaid stuff in general, but for example... Some places like Target won't let you get a refund on combo deal products or whatever - I don't know how to explain it. Maybe they wouldn't give a refund on the month service if you keep the phone or something.

Really only wondering if all those things are likely and if anyone knows from experience though

Last time I got in on the $50 iphone 7 Cricket deal in March, the credit is tied to the ported number. You can't sell or transfer the credit unless you find a CSR willing to do this (slim chance). They did not send a separate refill card, so no, you cannot "sell" the credit unless you find someone to pay for the remaining month on that sim card.

You definitely arent getting a refund on service. Use that month of service or sell the sim card/ card credit.

After submitting port in request, will there be several days of gap (old service stop, new service not yet ready) before activation on cricket?

What if I never activate the sim card from cricket, will I continue to use the plan of my old provider? Thanks
