142.99 regularly. If you don't NEED your PC to look like it ate a Christmas Tree get the non-RGB Ripjaws.

Lol are you a power user with 150 tabs open? Windows 10 at idle with basic apps running should pull no more than 2gb memory. I have 16gb and only start to run into issues when I load a video editing program and I'm playing with green screening and tracking. Google chrome never eats memory lol
That's why I said I have a "terrible habit" leaving tabs open which is exacerbated by leaving my computer running overnight, with open tabs accumulating as I use open tabs as bookmarks instead of actually bookmarking tabs. And I'm aware that's an unusual habit and my fault for not fixing, that's why I said it's my fault and 32 is more than enough. And does having too much RAM adversely affect a computer? No, and that's why I said it's not "too much" to have more RAM. Some people even drive high-performance cars to commute while never really needing all that horsepower, so what's the harm in having some extra RAM other than their wallet? That's why I said fit as much as budget allows, allocating leftover budget towards extra RAM.

This brand has a lot manipulated benchmark results, go with Corsair to max out your OC potential without even changing voltage

What games benefit from 32GB?
World building games? Sandbox games?

I'm a noob at PC, so I should be getting a CL16 3600/4000MHz?
If you are only going to overclock/xmp to 3600 at cl16..just grab a known 3600mhz cl18 kit for cheaper. You can tighten timing to 16-18-18-36 or better in most cases.

Most games wouldn't come close to needing 32gb, though that can change in the future. Quick googling shows star citizen could be a memory hog, though it says recommended specs are 16gb.

Also, is there something like too much RAM? Is 64GB too much?

My prospective config is 3700X/3900X with X570 MOBO, RX 5700 XT or RTX 2070 Super GPU
You can't really have so much RAM that it will negatively affect performance, but you just won't end up using it and it would be a waste of money. For gaming, currently you don't need more than 16, and those who use more tend to be professionals (video editing/rendering, engineering software, etc).

It's not the same metric as say clock speed or IPC on a cpu, where bigger number nets in better performance. RAM is memory - like hard drive space, having more than you need doesn't make your computer faster.

While obviously higher clocks and tighter timings would be better, there's a point of diminishing return and exponential price increase that would make it not worth it. Currently I believe the sweet spot for performance per dollar is 3200-3600mhz with around CL16 timing. Don't stress out about these numbers and find one in this ballpark that seems like the best deal. If money is no object, then just go nuts.

Edit - just adding this since you said you're a noob - make sure you enable XMP/DOCP on your BIOS to utilize the advertised clock speeds and timings. They may not be enabled by default. It's fairly easy to do, simple YouTube or googling should help.

Agreed. "Too much ram" really only happens when it forces you to remove budget from another important component. 16gb is currently a good amount for most people.

I only have 10 tabs open in Chrome right now, most of which are just email, ebay, slickdeals, etc. No youtube or anything and chrome is using 3.1gb
