For those who haven't read any of his works, I'm jealous. I don't consider myself a reader much but dude knows how to build a world, create awesome characters with awesome and at times insightful/funny dialogue, and just hit you with the coolest action. This is targeted to a younger audience but it's still a fun read. Really enjoyed the paperback with the 'doodles' interspersed through the book.

I'm used to books that build up to a payoff that usually is MEH - I'm looking at you Dan Brown. I'm used to authors who take FOREVER to write the next book - I'm looking at your RR Martin. Sanderson pumps these babies out like a machine and STILL manages to somehow be one of the most connected authors to his fanbase that I've ever seen. Just look at his latest kickstarter (https://www.kickstarter.com/proje...nd-edition) or his website (https://www.brandonsanderson.com/). Plenty of writings and deleted scenes on that last one if you want to get a taste of his writing style.

Just spent the last five minutes typing this out because I enjoy who this guy is and what he does that much. If I get a few random people I'll never meet interested enough to check him out, I'm happy Smilie
I love all Brandon Sanderson books. He is very imaginative and descriptive. The storytelling is top notch and most his books have these build ups to action scenes that are just insane. Literally goose bumps sometimes. The Stormlight Archive is the epic I'm all about right now.
Great book. Even though it is targeted for a younger audience, I really enjoyed it. Wish he would come out with a sequel.

Sanderson is a fantastic author. My only complaint is that he writes so fast that by the time I have added a title on a deal to my backlog, another title has come out. Half the time I go to buy a book for $3 and get the message that it is already in my library. Wish there was a SD on time.

Yes, absolutely. Can't recommend it enough.

Another YA series by Sanderson to check out is Alcatraz vs the Evil Librarians.

I enjoyed reading this book. If you've read other Sanderson books it will feel familiar but it isn't part of the Cosmere like many of his other books (Stormlight Archive, Mistborn, etc). This one takes place on an alternate Earth which I think makes it a little more digestible for younger readers especially.

bought it just to support the guy.

I was blown away by the first 3 mistborn books and the stormlight archives have been amazing! Graphic Audio versions for the win!

Excellent book! Even though it's geared towards YAs, I found it very enjoyable as an adult. Sanderson is an amazing author.

This is the first book of the series and it's published in 2013. Currently in 2020, there is still no news about when the second book will be out.

On goodreads:
Sanderson's assistant stated on reddit.com that this will likely not be out until 2017.

On wiki:
According to Sanderson, at least one other novel will be published in the Rithmatist series. The sequel is tentatively titled The Aztlanian. Brandon does not plan to work on it until he has finished the Alcatraz series. One of the reasons Brandon hasn't worked on the sequel, yet, is that it will deal with Native American culture and he wants to be sure to treat the subject matter with due respect.

I wouldn't be surprised if Sanderson does not revisit this until he is wrapped up with the Cosmere.
