Does anyone know if you can add a year to an already existing membership. CR doesn't do the 5 year sub anymore for $100, and this is cheaper anyway. I see option for renewal, but will it add it to the end of the existing one.

I can't confirm on CR, but I have done it with a couple of other magazines when purchasing through Discount Mags and it added the additional years to my current subscription. I know that doesn't necessarily address your specific situation though.

Always check your favorite CB/Points sites with magazines - usually high kickback

Does a CR subscription give me access to their online site for 13 months as well?

I remember there was a time when it did, but that no longer seems to be the case. They now charge $10 per month for digital access or $39 a year or $59 for the magazine and digital access. If you have a current magazine subscription, you can add the digital subscription for $25.

You cannot get cash back or points when you use the link which is the only way to get the advertised prices.

Me too. I have added while still in subscription.

Yes. Just be sure to select "Renewal Subscription", not New Subscription, in the drop-down box. Just did it. $16 for a year including the annual book is the best price.

It does NOT include their online data. CR does rate the highest end of the market for their product reviews. They are not as friendly to real bargain hunters as they were 5÷ years ago. I'm normally shopping for products and lines they don't cover. Their reviews and comparison charts often miss critical criteria. That said, they'll still save me a few hundred or more every year.

Can anyone comment on if CR is still relevant and helpful? I use The Wirecutter frequently and wondering how it compares to that.

CR is ok but they only give you the 3 top picks in categories with the magazine subscription anymore. They make you subscribe to their digital subscription to get all the the ratings . A step backwards imo as they force you to pay for digital to get features that they published normally in the past.

They offer the digital subscription for $1 a month to magazine subscribers quite often throughout the year. So add another $12 yearly if you want all the ratings and more features.

As garrett1230 pointed out, online access is a separate subscription. However, check with your local library first. You may be able to access CR's digital content for free via your local library's digital membership even in the comfort of your own home!

Yes, you can renew an existing subscription.

More important than selecting the 'renewal' option via the DM website, is using the EXACT same name/addy that is on your current mailing label.

DM does not provide the publishers the information of 'new' or 'renewal' (that drop down is for DM customer information only).

If you're not sure how your name/addy appears on your mailing label - you can check your subscription account details at the Consumer Reports website.

If, by some chance, despite using the same name/addy when you order, if you start to receive duplicates...it is easily resolved by contacting Consumer Reports (not DM) and having them merge the accounts (see link above).
