As @CndnMP says, it's a brightly focused narrow beam just an inch or two wide from a foot or so away. It's a killer little light. I use mine almost everyday and just ordered a couple more for my cars.
What exactly do you use it for everyday? Is it different from a keychain flashlight?

I have two of these bought them like 2 years ago and they are awesome. They illuminate a perfectly circular area with consistent light with no gradation lines from the refractor evident.
Same, they had some mail in offer a couple of years ago for a free one if you pay postage (~$2). Great light for checking on the sleeping kids or for camping so that you don't wake anyone. I lost it somewhere but I would say it's equivalent to a cellphone light just a lot easier to carry around and handle.

For finding stuff under beds, in between car seats, working on computers, home repairs, and lots of other stuff where a concentrated little beam helps focus your view. Probably not great for night walks and such, but great for just about everything else.

Good deal if you need this, but
- most people don't want a beam that tight in normal use and
- single mode on a flashlight really limits the flexibility. should have 2-3 light levels

I've used the Coast warranty, it's real and many buyers will need it.
Have to pay shipping?

In for one - I'm a nurse and needed a new penlight for neuro assessments, thanks for the heads up! Now if I can keep it from getting stolen... :-)

I know it's more money, but I highly recommend the Terralux Stylus Pro [amazon.com] for a light like this. The high CRI LED means it doesn't change the colors of whatever you're looking at (which I've experienced firsthand). Pinks/Reds/Orange don't all look the same. But the dumb feature I find most valuable is the rubber bite grip. Might seem silly. But when I have this clipped to my pocket and need a light quickly, I typically have my hands full. Think about it. This flashlight isn't for extended use. You're not going to do an hour long job with a penlight. This is for quick inspections or connections. Over the years, I've used the TerraLux so much that I don't think I could ever use another penlight without a bite grip.

Whatever penlight you end up buying, think about modding it with a foam/rubber bite grip. Game changer. laugh out loud

Same issue with my Coast, before long the original AA Duracells corroded so badly I needed vice grips to unscrew it- totally destroyed. After a little reading online it seems like this has happened to more than a few people. I will say it was extremely easy to order a totally free replacement shipped to me under the warranty- just took a quick email with a photo of the current light. Battery issue aside, they're solid and perform well for the price.
I would have thought that warranty coverage would not include leaking batteries. Did you have to ship back the old flashlight?

I don't know what it is about Duracell alkalines, but they leak like crazy and I don't trust them. I've even had unused batteries in their original packaging or unused OEM ones included with some other product that have leaked.

I have this model and i agree there are definitely quality control issues. My g20 has spots on the beam, but it's still working. They have a lifetime warranty which I haven't tried using yet but I hear you'd still have to pay for shipping. So it's a wash.

Overall, I'd say this is a decent price considering it works.

I have used the coast warranty. They will ask for pictures and send out a replacement in a day or two. Top notch customer service.

This seems a little bright for a neuro assessment. Might blind your patients. No?

If you get one of these open it right away and check for battery corrosion. I would not put them back in if you are not using.

They pack these with Duracell's that will corrode. It is difficult to clean because it gets into the switch.
Duracell has a warranty. If they ruin your electronics then they will reimburse you if you send pictures.

Really ? I could not find their policy for this. Only them show how to clean up after the fact.

It would be great if they actually do reimburse for that.
